TEST DRIVE #2 - The Holodeck/Ten Forward

Where were you a minute ago? Well, you aren't there anymore. Instead, you're standing in a very large, dark room lined with yellow. There are doors at either end of it.

Here's where things get a little choose your own adventure-y. You could:

1: Approach a console filled with buttons, located a few feet away. Press one, and it'll let you out of the room. Travel down a long hallway and you'll be in Ten Forward, the Enterprises' entertainment lounge. Have a drink, mingle and try to figure out why you're here.

OR

2: Maybe you just muttered some vague request under your breath. Maybe you wished aloud you were somewhere else. Or for help? If you did, might be in a fire station. Muttered something about killing whoever dumped you here? Surprise - you're in a slasher movie!

Though they're confusing, these visions feel about as real as they can be. And guess what - other people can experience those fantasies with you, as if they too were really there. How ever will you escape? Or do you want to?

[OOC: Welcome to the Holodeck! If you choose this option, whatever your character chooses to say out loud will cause a virtual reality program to load and play. While your character feels as if what they're experiencing and seeing is quite real, they're purely living through the latest and best in what he Enterprise has to offer in entertainment. Make sure to detail what your character's fantasy is, so that those threading with them will know how to react.

Open til next month's test drive!]

K'ehleyr // Star Trek: TNG

Alone at a very comfortable chair to one side is a certain Ambassador with a decidedly different humor than the Betazoid one. She idly rests her hand on her visibly pregnant belly. There was a slight smirk on her face. All of these newcomers were quite amusing and interesting to watch but she kept her distance for now. "Never a dull moment on this ship," she said as she took a sip of water.

"You get used to it," Steve says. He's sitting at a table close by with a pad in front of him (a real pad, full of paper), pencil resting between his fingers. A coca-cola is sitting by his elbow getting warm.

He smiles at the woman and gives her a polite nod in greeting. He doesn't want to be rude and horn in on her alone time, but he's been watching her for a little while and is willing to chance it that she won't mind.

Hopefully she doesn't mind the rough sketch he's started, either.

This guy was interesting. He's human, but built almost like a Klingon. She looks him up and down before she responds. "Oh, I am quite familiar with the proclivities of this particular starship." She watched him work a bit before she continued. "You know, in some sectors it's rude to draw a lady without asking her name." She didn't sound too annoyed there. This was pretty amusing.

He's used to getting once-overs -- it's a hazard of the job -- but he still blushes and glances away every time he does. When you're a superhero, and a very public one at that, ladies can be very ... outgoing.

He clears his throat and shifts in his seat, embarrassment deepening. "I'm sorry, ma'am. I didn't mean to offend. It's just that... you're very striking."

He rubs the back of his neck, and looks completely apologetic.

Humility isn't really something she's used to seeing among Klingons. It's what made spending time with humans so refreshing. Her smirk changed to more of a smile. "It's okay. I don't think anyone's wanted to draw me before. Especially not half so well. My name is K'ehleyr." Position didn't really matter right now. It would probably only fluster him further. She did reach a hand over for a shake, though.

He smiles, full of quiet pride at the compliment, immediately reaching over to shake her hand while he smooths down a tie that isn't there. It's been a while since he's worn that uniform, but the gesture is routine.

"Captain Steve Rogers," he says. "Thank you, ma'am. I find it hard to believe no one has wanted to draw you before. I'll, uh. I'll be sure to ask permission next time."

He pauses. In fact... "Permission to continue?"

She smiled and nodded to him to continue. "Klingon men are not predisposed to the arts. The visual ones, anyway. They lack the patience and subtlety." It was stated as an observation, not a judgment. Of course, that difference was one of the things that set Worf apart from most.

He's relieved by her positive reply, settling back in with his pencil. Each stroke is careful, slow, and precise, making sure he gets the structure and depth right before he starts shading in the details.

"I've only met one Klingon before now, ma'am," he says, splitting his attention between her face and the paper. "When I was in the war, there weren't too many human fellas who sat around doodling either. Sometimes art gets looked at as not being manly enough. I think the measure of a man can be judged by the details he notices and the gentleness of his hand, more than the body count he leaves behind."

He makes absolutely certain to get her smile right. It's a nice smile, and he'd hate to do it an injustice.

"That Klingon was Lieutenant Commander Worf, right?" She smiles at his commentary. "Who did you fight for? You're not Starfleet. You'd fill out the uniform quite nicely, though." She ran her fingers over her stomach. She put a hand up to stop him before he could respond to that. "Please, forgive me. My tongue gets away from me more often now than it used to. Hormones."

A flash of heat creeps up Steve's neck, leaving the tips of his ears pink, but along with embarrassment he graces her with a small, amused smile. He's been told worse things.

"Lieutenant Commander Worf, that's right," he nods, giving more shape to her lips before moving on to her jawline. "He's, um. Dedicated. I'm not sure I'd last long in Starfleet if he was the model to live up to.

"I fought back on Earth for the United States Army. World War I. Uh, a big deal back in the 20th century. I picked up missions with an organization shortly after that." Well, shortly for him, 70 years later for the rest of the known world. He clears his throat, and shifts in his seat. "How far along are you?"

"Ambassador, if I knew you were here I would have insisted on being abducted earlier." Dukat slid into the seat opposite her, grinning as if the Occupation was going delightfully and ordered a glass of kanar.

"Let me get you something other than water. Rokassa juice? My wife enjoyed it all throughout her pregnancies, claimed it did wonders. Or perhaps Pyrellian ginger tea if they have it here." He'd kill for a good bottle of Bajoran springwine.

"And let me say you do look stunning. Motherhood suits you."

The effusive pleasantries from Dukat caused her to raise an eyebrow and her mouth quirked up in a little smirk. "My, my, I never thought I'd see the day when Dukat would be comfortably enjoying a drink aboard a Federation vessel. Pardon me if I don't get up. I need to make sure that's more and more worth it as the months go on." She punctuated her statement with a sip of her water.

"But no thank you, the water hits the spot for now."

"I wouldn't dream of asking you to get up on my account -- a lady in your condition should be relaxing. I could ask a security guard to find you a pillow--they seem to insist on following me everywhere. It's makes me feel quite unwelcome, actually." The Cardassian gave the two security officers trailing him a glare.

"Why don't you two of you make yourselves useful and find her a pillow and some ice for her water." Honestly, they were looking at him as if he was going to steal away Federation secrets. As if there was something on this ship Central Command didn't know already. Amateurs.

"Considering you could just as easily be in the brig, I think you ought to consider yourself fortunate." Her troublesome humor was a bit harder to keep under wraps lately. Perhaps hormones were having their way with her. But what Dukat did with his escorts was none of her concern. She expected Worf would have put his best people on a visitor such as this.

"I never expected a routine trip such as mine to end up quite this interesting." She gestured lightly toward the lounge full of people that obviously didn't belong here.

"Considering how tenuous the peace talks are going, they wouldn't dare. That is unless the Federation isn't as devoted to peace as you all keep telling me." He shrugged his shoulders and opened his arms a bit.

"I'm sure we can all come to a mutual understanding, while this situation is sorted out. That is, unless, you all wish me to inform Central Command the Federation has taken me hostage and refuses to let me leave."

"But that would set up such a neat little void for the Klingon Empire to pick up where Cardassia left off," she added. Though they both knew that even as things were in the Klingon High Council, they would never be so foolish as to attempt to shake off the Federation for something such as that.

"No, Picard is not so foolish as that," she answered. "Though, I'm curious. Did you come here on your own or were you brought here like the rest of our unexpected guests?"

"Far be it from me to keep your curiosity unfulfilled. I was brought here rather unwillingly. This isn't exactly my idea of a vacation spot, and I do have work to do. Bajor and Terok Nor won't run themselves, now will they? I can only do so much from here--although an encrypted comm line to Bajor would do wonders for the peace talks and earn the Federation some good will."

He took a sip of Kanar. Not bad, especially considering it was free and he didn't have to get it from Quark. Although he did miss having it poured by his servants.

She chuckled a bit that he would actually expect that to be reasonable. Of course he would. Dukat didn't often have his way refused. "That does make things rather interesting for the talks. If I didn't know any better it was as if whoever brought you here was trying to interfere."

In Dukat's head---and of course in the Cardassian Union, he was a rather important individual. He was the face of the Occupation of Bajor, that which would revitalize Cardassia and replenish waning supplies. It was too bad it wouldn't last though, and with the upcoming end of the Occupation, Dukat's career would suffer. As if it was his fault the Occupation didn't last. He wasn't the one retreating.

"It does seem that way. But I can only hope that both the Federation and Cardassia know enough not to be baited. And it is a translucent baiting at best." A Cardassian school child could do better.

"Indeed it is. Well, all I can say is that I wish a peaceful and prosperous resolution for all." She raised her glass a bit to him.

"How do you find the Enterprise? Other than crowded."
