The end of the second world war. So about seventy years ago.

It's banned in the Federation, due to our...history with it.

...not quite. There are many different kinds of cells inside your body, too, they're what your built out of, beyond what our eyes can see.

Inside each cell is DNA, which is...well, a blueprint of sorts, for what makes a living thing. And in the past, we mapped it and discovered how to manipulate it, to give people different traits, like strength, intelligence, and physical changes. That's called genetic engineering.

That sounds complicated.

Would you be as impressed if I said I could feel the electrical impulses from the pacemaker cells in your heart?

Just slightly. And that is the simplified version.

Why is everything so complicated?

So right in my present-day.

Geez. How do I not know about Captain America?

Um...not everyone likes comic books.

Because the more we study everything, the more we understand. And the older you get, the more you'll learn.

In short, it will seem less complicated once your older. Bit of a cop-out, but it's the truth.

Guess I could stand to read a few more comic books, if I'm in them.



Or maybe not. I'm not sure I want to read about myself, especially if it's creepily accurate.

Yeah. Not sure I'd want to read a book with me in it. My dad doesn't seem to fond of the idea either.

He's not in a comic book. He's in my storybook. It's in my room, I could show you. As long as you promise to believe me.
