TEST DRIVE #5 - Low Gravity Gymnasium and Ten Forward

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprises' off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...

Option 02. Aboard the Enterprise, The Low-Gravity Gymnasium: The gym is a large room with several alcove-like sections housing the aerobics and martial arts areas, a parrises squares area, an anbo-jyutsu court, and a separate fencing room. While there is normally a zero-gravity area as well, today all of the gym is in zero-gravity conditions.

Zero-gravity can be, well, kind of weird, because it's not like a gradual loss of the pressure holding you to the floor--you may have taken the turbolifts, just expecting to take a leisurely run, or maybe work out with a treadmill to get in some cardio, but the minute you step into the gym you're floating, as is anything you might have been holding or bringing with you.

Do you freak out, start flailing and trying to swim through the air back to where you can escape? Do you make the best of it and tough it out to get your exercise in, or do you start having fun with the sudden game of weightlessness? Pick your personal scenario and have fun with all the other weightless people.

"Well... the ship is new to me, anyway." So was being able to admit that aliens weren't. It still felt uneasy- he knew that within the rules and restrictions of the MiB in a socially progressive setting with alien contact established actually discussing his work was just fine, outside of confidential case information.

But it still felt odd. Like someone stuck him in plaid pants.

"And this is my first time off Earth for any amount of time, so that ain't too bad. I'm trying to consider it a vacation." And not go stir crazy as a man that had high stress situations on the daily.

Rommie | Andromeda

Opening the door she found herself faced with a bar. She blinked. That wasn't there before.

Harper

The first thing that she could process was what had Harper done now. It could only be Harper that would do this. None of the other would have gone to quite the extreme of remodeling the observation deck this way.

Rommie blinked again. This wasn't her observation deck.

She folded her arms as she stood just inside the door, which had closed behind her, trying to communicate with herself. The response isn't immediate as she would like. Her priorities turn to locating her captain.

"Dylan?"

She tried again to communicate with herself. She made a face she found that there was no response. The android was cut off. And not pleased about it.

He knows that voice.

He'd know that voice anywhere. Even across the lounge.

That's what happens when a voice is there, at his side, ready to respond to any word, any command, for every waking moment more days than not for five years. When that voice is the one he's been longing to hear again since the moment he wound up here.

Her name had been the first thing he'd said when he arrived here, and he's not even thinking when he stands, pushing back his chair, staring around the bar for the familiar petite figure of his ship.

He grins when he sees her.

He doesn't run. He doesn't hug her, though after weeks of missing her he wants to.

Instead, he straightens his shirt and strides across the bar, tall, shoulders back, and stops a few paces from her, hands on his hips.

"Andromeda."

He almost manages to keep himself from smiling.

Almost.

She wouldn't shut up!

[personal profile] romdoll 2014-10-04 10:28 am (UTC)(link)
Rommie heard that voice, she stood a little taller, arms at first to her sides then held behind her back as she always did waiting for orders.

"Captain."

She is always glad to see him. "I no longer have any access to my systems. I seem to be cut off from myself." There is some concern in her voice. More than she'd like there to be but a considerable amount less than she was and still is feeling. Though Dylan stood before her and looking okay does a lot to ease that.
dreams_dont_die: (Observation deck)

Clearly she wants to talk to her Captain! Smart girl.

It's ... really good to see her again. He gives up trying not to smile, letting maybe a little too much fondness for strict adherence to High Guard regulations show, but ... nothing about this is in any sort of High Guard regulation.

There are a lot of things he needs to know from her, but the first one, she answers herself.

Of course Q wouldn't bring the rest of the ship, just the avatar. Still, just seeing her, he ... can't stop the smile. He could kiss her, just like he did last time he spoke to her, he's so glad to see her.

"Yeah." He reaches up one hand and scratches the back of his neck, wondering what the best way is to explain this. "That's not exactly a surprise."

He points to the window.

"Look at the stars."

Time travel. Rommie's always been able to work it out by calculating the positions of the stars.

Both Akito and Plume are surprised she's seen, considering nobody else has so far. "Ah... Plume is a tooth fairy."

Plume peeps a greeting.

"Yeah no. I'm from the twenty-first century." It's weird to need to clarify that. He glances out the window. His mum would be dead and his dad...his dad would have celebrated another couple of centuries (did the gods do cakes and card?).

"Why? Don't they trust us?" He guesses he would have a problem if someone crashed the party on board his ship.

"I've done loads of embarrassing things in front of Captain Sisko, honestly," Julian says soothingly. If points were being awarded for being a twit in front of one's commanding officer, Julian would surely take home some kind of prize between the Captain and Kira--who may not have been Starfleet, but as second in command, still held rank over him and therefore counted.

"There's no failing involved. As I said, we all have our off days." He guided them into the turbolift, and turned his head up slightly to address the computer. "Sickbay. Please," he adds, shooting an amused look at Ezri.

His best girl.

[personal profile] romdoll 2014-10-04 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
There is for a moment a very brief frown upon her face before she walked over to the window as the Captain had asked her to do. Even without the rest of the ship there it didn't take her long to work out the difference in the stars and reference them against the more familiar ones of home.

"By my calculations we would be 2802 years in the past." She turned back to her Captain and looked at him curiously. He already knew that though. He knew more than her and she didn't like it. That she was certain was something to do with Harper's programming. When she found him there would be words. "Where are we?"

It's never a good thing to see a warship look perturbed. And that is pretty much how she looks for a moment before she walks over to the window. He follows her, waiting, arms crossed, for her sensors and processors to confirm what he already knows. The positions of these stars are wrong. They won't match with the charts she has stored in her vast mind. Not for CY 10088. More like ... CY 7286.

That's exactly what she says as she turns to look at him, her expression questioning, seeking answers. From him, her captain. The man she trusts, believes, obeys, above all others.

"On a ship called the USS Enterprise. What you worked out from the stars matches what I've been told. We're ..." His hands drop and his lips purse.

Of anyone, Rommie, who was with him during the time of the Commonwealth, or at least whose consciousness was, if not this android body, knows what the rest of it means to him.

She's High Guard, too, to the core, just like him.

"In some sort of divergent reality where there is and was no Commonwealth."

Her eyes are a sharp blue, keen and bright. She's gotten good at reading people, given her current line of 'employment', so she responds to any perceived feelings of unease or hesitation with a soft, sweet smile.

"Mine, too. Where I come from, there ain't no fancy space travel jus' yet. We don't even got automobiles."

She doesn't seem to be taking to it as well as K does, however. There's a little tension in her shoulders, and even though she's thinking of space travel as the greatest adventure of her life, it may not have entirely sunk in that she's light-years away from Earth. She's just not the sort of woman who shows her hand that easily, so she plays it off in smiles and laughter and little quips, as best she can.

"A vacation from what, if you don't mind my askin'?"

"...the what?" Jack looked so confused, it was actually almost comical. He looked at Peter as those he had grown a second head. "I'm in Space? But a guy who is playing a joke? Does he know what taking a spirit that controls the weather can do to a Planet? Is there any way I can even go home?"

She glanced around her again at the surroundings. It could have been said that Harper had done too good a job at getting her human like emotions. Rommie thought she looked better than this ship. She'd blame Harper for that.

Rommie blinked at Dylan. They'd lost everything. Again. She very nearly said it out loud but didn't. How many times did that need to happen. Once had been more than enough. She considered a number of scenarios. Many of them. All at once.

"No Commonwealth. Does this ship have AI that you've met?" She's asking because it would just be rude of her to walk up to the closest panel and find out things. Harper may have programmed her but she has a lot more etiquette than he does.

'No Commonwealth.' That's all she says, but he knows her well enough to know the unexpressed emotions behind the way she looks at him, behind the blink as she processes what he's said. They were the last of the Commonwealth and here they are, stranded in time again, impossibly far from everything they've ever known.

So far, this time, that even his dream of reviving it, pulling it back out of the ashes and giving it substance, is beyond his reach.

He crosses his arms and shakes his head, once.

"No." He flashes a smile her way, fond and proud. "Nothing like you, anyway. It has a computer, but it's more like the Maru's."

Henry had been sitting around in Ten Forward watching people, as he did most days. Then he noticed someone who didn't seem to know where they were. A new arrival. Time to have some fun.

Thankfully for Rommie, he was kind enough to walk over there instead of the alternative and gave her a smile.

"Looking for someone? Feeling lost?" He needed a third question for effect and a little magic gave him an interesting one. "You're not quite human, are you?"

"Uh. That's a lot of questions in one breath."

Peter shrugs another apologetic shrug. He wishes he could do or say more that might make sense ... but as it is, he'll do his best.

Just your friendly neighbourhood teenager trying to help.

"So - yeah. You're in space. Because a guy playing a prank has the power to do it. I doubt he really knows much about people or - or spirits, I guess? He also doesn't seem to care. And uh - as for going home, that might be a problem."

He looks grim.

"Considering we've traveled through space and time."

Jack just gave Peter an unamused look at that as he waited for the answer. So some magical being was doing this and-

There is currently a young woman in the corner of Ten Forward. She looks younger than she is from malnourishment and her state of hygiene leaves a lot to be desired. On further inspection, she appears to be wearing what looks like a potato sack with holes cut into it for the arms, legs and head. But on the right side, it has been cut lower to show off a branded symbol on her right shoulder and most of her right breast. The rest of her skin is covered in bruises and cuts and the sack itself is tinged with blood. The woman herself looks terrified that she's in such an unknown environment and has no idea what to do next. She hasn't been given free will in quite a while.

The touch alone made Jack tense up a bit. He was fully expecting that hand to go through his but then it didn't. He nodded, instead, not trusting his voice. Pitch had been there too? And why was Akito so concerned about people not believing in him? From what he could see, most of them were adults, so what did it matter?
akito: akito / gazelle (pic#2849164)

[personal profile] akito 2014-10-09 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Akito takes charge and pulls Jack along, trying not to focus on the old memories he has of him and instead focus on helping Jack. Being a good friend, even if Jack doesn't remember him (and probably never will).

Anyone who makes the mistake of getting to close to cutting through. Jack gets a firm growl (watch where you're going!), with Akito not caring what people think of him, because he saw a memory once, of when Jack first discovered he was invisible and intangible. And it won't happen again as long as Akito can help it.

"I made everyone agree to staying neutral with each other, so Pitch and Tooth and everyone had a good truce. And me and Pitch became sort of... friends, I guess you could say, until he found someone he liked better." He's rambling, but rambling at least distracts him from how one of his greatest wishes just came true, even if it's not exactly how he planned. "Then he stopped really talking to me, and it was like we were never sort-of-friends before. Which makes him a huge hypocrite! Because he said I would forget."

Plume huffs her irritated agreement. Akito spots a good place to sit and pulls Jack over to it, asking as he goes: "Do you believe in multiple universes?"

Jake made a soft noise at being pulled and tried to make sure he didn't go through anyone. It was such an unpleasant feeling and Akito was pretty good at making sure no one did go through him, but it didn't stop everyone. "Akito, it's okay, you don't need to-"

But he already was and he just sighed, sharing a shrugging look with Baby Tooth. He listened to Akito as he told about the truce, rather impressed that such a thing was possible. Jack isn't one to sit, however, not completely still anyway, so he remained standing. "I dunno, I guess so."

"You can crouch on the chair," Akito points out, gesturing to it. It means less chance of being walked through by mistake. Also it will make it more comfortable to talk to him.

"Okay! So, um..." And here is where Akito begins to feel awkward; nervous. He won't tell Jack about his previous relationship, not wanting him to feel any obligation or discomfort, but he can't just leave Jack be. He has to explain something.

"I have something important to tell you, okay? And I don't want you to feel bad."
frostedoverland: (❄️ 11)

[personal profile] frostedoverland 2014-10-09 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Jack didn't like crouch on random objects, though, and he figured he was far enough on the edge to not need to worry about people. Jack shrugged at Akito.

"I'm not sure what you could say that would make me feel bad," He replied. He already felt bad enough that he didn't know Akito when he felt like he should have. He already guessed Akito considered him a friend. But there wasn't anything he could do about that. To Jack, this was their first meeting.
akito: akito (pic#2188770)

[personal profile] akito 2014-10-09 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Akito doesn't press it since it isn't that important. "Um, it wasn't just Pitch and Tooth who were there. But you probably guessed that by now, ne?" He laughs and fidgets with the hem of his shirt. "We were... You were my best friend. It was a post-apocalyptic world, and we helped each other out a lot. But we found a lot of cool places to have fun, too." The longer he talks, the more it's clear how fondly he remembers those moments. "Like there was an abandoned amusement park and we raced on the roller coaster tracks. Stuff like that."
