TEST DRIVE #5 - Low Gravity Gymnasium and Ten Forward

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprises' off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...

Option 02. Aboard the Enterprise, The Low-Gravity Gymnasium: The gym is a large room with several alcove-like sections housing the aerobics and martial arts areas, a parrises squares area, an anbo-jyutsu court, and a separate fencing room. While there is normally a zero-gravity area as well, today all of the gym is in zero-gravity conditions.

Zero-gravity can be, well, kind of weird, because it's not like a gradual loss of the pressure holding you to the floor--you may have taken the turbolifts, just expecting to take a leisurely run, or maybe work out with a treadmill to get in some cardio, but the minute you step into the gym you're floating, as is anything you might have been holding or bringing with you.

Do you freak out, start flailing and trying to swim through the air back to where you can escape? Do you make the best of it and tough it out to get your exercise in, or do you start having fun with the sudden game of weightlessness? Pick your personal scenario and have fun with all the other weightless people.

Ezri stood at the replicator, shifting her weight from one foot the other. Surely this was supposed to get easier right? At least, if she was looking on the bright side, she hadn't introduced herself as Curzon, Jadzia, or Torias recently. Practice made perfect right?

So, it all came down to the question, what did she want. She. Ezri. Not Curzon, not Jazia, not Emony, not any of the other hosts. This had all started when she almost ordered gagh, cancelling the order almost immediately, gagging and slamming her hand over her mouth.

"Salad, with beets--no.Steak with roasted vegetables in a butter sauce---no, no, not that....I'm going to starve at this rate," the counselor mumbled to herself, and the replicator. Then she twitched, a hand going to her stomach, images of Torias' last moments flashing in her memory like a bad movie with no pause button.

"Or maybe," Ezri muttered, "I can just get sick all over the floor. Won't that be fun? Everyone will want to come talk to me then. Way to attract attention, Ezri. "

The woman who approaches her is wearing a uniform, though it's likely one that only a very small number of people aboard the Enterprise will recognize; blue jacket with ribbed silver panels, a patch on the shoulder with a stylized sun familiar to anyone in her world and no-one in this, and a sparkling blue and silver pin on her collar.

She's also armed, but her force lance is safely holstered, though Molly's edgy, still not used to being around people again after being stranded on Septa Paresis all on her own.

(She's still not used to not expecting Kroton in the shadows.)

"You know," Molly says, after a moment to shake off that sense of being watched she knows isn't right, "I think that might kind of defeat the purpose of eating."

Julian had his moments where all he wanted was a cup of tea and a scone with some jam, and now was one of those moments--apparently he was blessedly lucky to be so sure of his order. Granted, the options granted by the replicators could be somewhat overwhelming, but he's never had as much trouble as the young woman standing at the replicators already seemed to be having.

"Excuse me, are you alright?" Is it tactful to say she looks a bit green around the...well, spots, it seems there's another Trill on board. Probably not.

[personal profile] livedlong 2014-09-23 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
To any Starfleet personal, the man standing before one of the large windows within Ten Forward is well known. Under other more normal circumstances he would have already sought out the captain of this vessel to make his presence known, but then the circumstances he found himself in currently were far from normal. Especially given the fact that not even a minute prior, he had been on New Vulcan.

Needless to say, Spock is currently gathering his thoughts on his current situation before he takes the steps to contact the captain. The question of which timeline he's currently part of hangs in question as does the date. However, he does at least recognize the lounge of the ship he's currently standing in. It remains to be seen if the ship bears the same name and captain though.

"Maybe you should go first. I'll be fine," Ezri replied, looking at the floor and noted that the carpet pattern was not a good thing to look at when queasy, "It's just that warp makes me a little queasy. Actually impulse makes me queasy too. Space makes me queasy," She clarified. "It reminds me of --"

Before she could say anything else she took a look at Julian and her eyes almost bugged out of her head like an Ezri sized insect. Which kind of reminded her of this one time Tobin saw this insect.....which then reminded of Jadzia and insect bites.....and well, at least she wasn't rambling out loud.

Ezri let out a little squeak, noting that it just wasn't fair that she got all the tough time travel problems. Jadzia had enjoyed it. Nope, nothing simple and fun for Ezri. Always had to do things the hard way. Which, of course, was why the Trill was standing in front of Bashir with her eyes unblinking trying desperately not to ramble like a four year old telling all of her mothers secrets.

Ezri was likewise wearing her Starfleet uniform, black with grey shoulders and a blue science division undershirt and collar. It was similar in design to the others that peppered the area, but most crew members worse a different Starfleet uniform more becoming to the time period.

"You're probably right. But I can't do anything the easy way. Nothing easy for Ezri." She turned back to the replicator for a moment. "Chamomile tea." Maybe it would soothe her stomach. Or at least if she puked it up it'd just be liquid.

The Trill looked awkwardly at the other woman, adding. "I'm Ezri....Obviously." Smart. Really smart. No one would ever guess you had negotiated the Khitomer Accords.Or been the first non-Klingon allowed into the House of Martok. Curzon. Jadzia. Not her. Well, kind of her. Life was so confusing.

Just when Alex finally thought she was getting used to being in space, this happened. She stepped into the gym just to see what was there and suddenly she was floating.

Now that she thought of it, the real mystery was why she wasn't floating the other 99% of the time. Annie would probably know the reason. If Annie were here.

Moving around sure was difficult, though. It was like swimming only without actually having the water to push against. Well, maybe she could just give herself a little boost... Squinting her eyes, she focused telekinetically and suddenly she was moving.

"Ow!" Okay, maybe that was a bad idea. She just hit her head on the ceiling.

There are many things Tommy D. was told he'd never get to do in the short life he'd been given, things as simple as traveling to Paris or Rome, or buying his own car, shopping in a grocery store, marrying, and having children of his own.

Space - even the mere idea of it - couldn't even cross his mind because it was so beyond the everyday simple things ordinary, normal people get to do - much less someone like him, a student from Hailsham. (A special student.

A clone.)

And he's alone. Alone in which he's the only one of his kind; there's no Kathy or Ruth around, no one else from the Cottages either. It's just him, in his much-too-baggy clothes, his coat hanging off thin shoulders, his eyes wide and his expression careful but curious. Maybe even a little scared.

He keeps a hand on one arm, trying not to look too out of place but failing. There are so many normals here, it's frankly off-putting.

How does he act? What does he say? What does he do?

(Kathy would know. Even Ruth would try something. But what does Tommy do? Tommy stands there ... watching. Looking like a complete fool.)

To say that he's recognised is an understatement, but, still, Lt. Cdr. Terzen T'Karr, formerly of the USS Pathfinder, allows him a while to be by himself before disturbing him.

And, even then, it's in the most unobtrusive, respectable way possible. He walks up behind Spock, making sure his reflection is visible in the window.

"Excuse me, Ambassador?" He asks, politely. "Is everything okay?"

Spock will find himself talking to someone in Operations Gold, with the black eyes of a Betazoid, but the spots, faded, but still obvious, of a Trill.

Option One
This isn't the first time Percy has suddenly found himself in the middle of the bar. He looks around for a guy in a crazy Hawaiian shirt and a stinking attitude. If he ever gives that description out loud again, he will be turned into a bottle nose dolphin and that really isn't how he wants to spend the rest of his life. He doesn't want to be turned into any other kind of dolphin either.

He realises this isn't some dream when people can actually see him and are staring at his bright orange 'Camp Halfblood' t-shirt. "Sorry to crash the party."

Option Two
Percy isn't good with heights. The second his feet leave the ground, he's filled with a sense of foreboding. It might have something to do with the fact that once he is in the air he is in Zeus' territory and that god might just blast him out of the air. Hopefully that doesn't apply in space. It would be really unfair if Zeus added space to his territory.

When nothing happens he turns a sort of sideways somersault.

Spock notes the reflection, quietly observing it as he's spoken to. "Not quite."

He himself is physically fine, the problem lies in his current location and time. He remains facing the window for now, but he'll take advantage of the Lt. Cdr's presence to possibly gain answers to his most prominent questions currently.

"Perhaps you could answer a few questions of mine. What is the current stardate? Do you know the name of this vessel and its captain?"
empathic_pathfinder: (neutral)

[personal profile] empathic_pathfinder 2014-09-23 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course, Ambassador."

They were fairly simple questions, after all.

"The current stardate is 43497.3. This is the Federation Starship USS Enterprise, Galaxy-Class, Registry NCC-1701-D under command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard."

He'd been correct in the identification of the ship then. However, it would appear that he had moved forward in time, but whether or not this was the unchanged timeline that he had originally hailed from or the altered one he had been part of during the last year, that yet remained to be determined.

There was one easy method he could use to learn this, he would ask one more rather specific question and await its answer, though no doubt the other's reaction to the question would tell him nearly as much as the answer to it.

"Thank you. I have one more question for you, Lt. Commander. Does the planet Vulcan still exist?"

"Are you sure? You look a little...well, green. I can get you an anti-nausea medication..." Julian starts, and then she's staring at him--honestly staring, in a way that made him feel vaguely uncomfortable.

...her eyes looked familiar.

Julian was literally incapable of forgetting a face, though, and he couldn't place hers.

"Computer, peppermint tea please." He presumes to put his hand on her shoulder, gently pushing her toward a table and placing the tea in front of her.

It certainly would have made for an interesting moment had she introduced herself as Jadzia to Jadzia herself. Not that Dax would right away make the connection that her name wasn't Jadzia. While it might not be the number one name in the galaxy, she knew there were others out there with it.

She had been on her way to the replicator, although she had to admit she missed the food she could get on the station. There was just something different about it- better, perhaps? Or maybe that was just how she remembered it. She had come up though, over hearing the faint mumblings of the person before her, which seemed to turn into talk about getting sick.

It is perhaps a slight noise that is made, turning in to a cough to cover her amusement. "Too many choices, too little stomach space?"

James had just arrived also but he wasn't worrying about it. It was almost normal to jump from one place to another in his life. Looking around, he noted the old man with the pointy ears by the window and couldn't help but ask.

James Potter was, by this point, used to arriving in placed he didn't know. He'd been to several that spanned his life and death and it didn't bother him at all. He walked around the lounge as if he belonged there, after checking he had his most important items on him. Wand. Cloak. Snitch. Sorted.

He pops down at the bar and realises, once again, he's going to have to reinvent his own drink. Sighing, he doesn't order anything and simply watches other people, deciding who to approach. Should be fun!

Henry had been learning about what this era called history and luckily for him, and possibly unlucky for the old Vulcan, it included pictures. So when the boy spotted the man by the window, he smiled and walked over to him.

Ezri's mouth opened in a little O shape as she heard herself. No, not herself. Jadzia. Kind of herself. Definitely not the time to introduce herself as her past hosts. That would be so bad. Time would be so messed up, Temporal Investigations would drop kick her into the nearest cell, if Temporal Investigations still existed by the time she got back. What if she screwed up time so bad it ceased to exist! Was that even possible? Could time just stop?

Maybe she could just play mute. That would work long enough for someone to do a medical scan on her. The Dax symbiont's readings were recorded in this time in Curzon, and it wouldn't take a feat of genius to compare them.

But, instead, Ezri opened her mouth a little wider and said, "I can be a little indecisive. It's kind of a phase I'm going through. Keep hoping I'll out grow it!" And she gave a self deprecating little laugh at her own expense.

"So you know how to work it, but you're having a ton of indecision for breakfast instead?"

James had appeared by her side with a loud crack. His smirking face gave off the impression he knew what he was doing but he really didn't. He'd only arrived less than an hour ago but he was used to be taken from one place and placed someone else at someone's whim.

"Think it'll make butterbeer?"

Oh, here it was coming. Julian was looking at her eyes, she could almost hear his voice saying 'You have Jadzia's eyes.' Right before she told him not to flirt with her. It hit people in different ways, having a new Dax in their lives. It was a like the stages of grieving. Anger--they were already way past denial--depression, acceptance. Worf had reacted with anger, as if her mere presence was an affront to Jadzia's memory. Bashir, had of course, recognized something in her of Jadzia. Bargaining.

In a way, she was going through those same stages, mourning her old self, and trying to accept her new one. Ones.

"Actually, I might take you up on that anti-nausea medication. Unless you think the Captain will stop the ship and just let me out?"

Ezri let Julian guide her to a nearby table and sit, with tea in front of her. And she even sipped it like a good patient.

"Do you think you're going to hurt the computer's feelings?" Ezri asked playfully in between sips.
pronounsarehard: (uh huh)

[personal profile] pronounsarehard 2014-09-24 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course I know how to make it work. It's a replicator." Ezri looked at James "Just tell it what you want, and it will come out here. If you can decide that is. Unlike me. Obviously. Is butterbeer an alcoholic beer or is it like root beer? It wont make alcoholic drinks. Synthehol only. And you might have to program it if it doesn't know what it is."

Ezri had known boys like James, both as Ezri and as Dax. Overconfident, and kind of arrogant. The Trill did her best to stifle an aggressive impulse, who she was pretty sure was Joran. Or maybe it was Jadzia. Or Curzon. This was so confusing.

"Technology isn't everyone's strong point, you know?" James moved to talk to the machine.

"Hey. You. Make me a butterbeer then." The computer didn't seem to understand. "Please restate inquiry."

James doesn't look impressed and instead leans on it and turns to Ezri, shrugging at her question. "It's just butterbeer."

"Yeah but if it's from your reality than we don't have it here. I've never heard of it. Do you know how to make it? You can program it in to the replicator like this," Ezri tried to demonstrate.

"Otherwise, might I suggest a root beer? It's good. And actually might settle my stomach. Computer, 2 root beers."

She handed one cup to James, taking the other one for herself. "I'm Ezri."

James sighs, annoyed. "What's the point of being thrown from dimension to dimension if you can't get a decent butterbeer when you get there?"

But he takes the root beer and nods at her introduction. "James. Nice to meet you, Ezri."
