Field of Dreams (Mini-Event!)
'Morning, Everyone!
As some of you may know, last night was Game 1 of the 2015 World Series (GO METS!) marking the end of baseball season until spring training starts it all over again next year. As some of you may also know, Captain Steve Rogers happens to be a fan of the sporteven if the Dodgers' trade to LA breaks his wee Brooklyn heart.
In honor of the season and to send The Boys off with a bang, Steve will be hosting a baseball game in the holodecks on what will be Game 7 of the World Series (assuming we get one), Wednesday, November 4th! I'm keeping this pretty relaxed and open to anyone, since I'm still easing back into playing after RL stole me away, but if we have enough interest that we get two full teams of players Steve will be delighted to make a real game out of it. If everyone has fun with it, I'd like to do a more structured baseball plot next season with more games and a special World Series closer for whomever plays (maybe there will even be a trophy).
Steve will be kicking around this weekend with a practice game, which will be an invitation for anybody to wander into the holodeck and join him and sign up IC for the game on Wednesday. Then Wednesday, whomever signs up will be divided into teams for actual play. This is totally for fun, so superpower cheats, stealing bases, and mayhem on the field is all allowed — so long as you don't mind making Captain America facepalm into eternity.
If you want in on Wednesday's game, drop a comment below and let me know so I can plan ahead for how many will be playing. Since I'm also gauging interest for next year, feel free to comment with any questions or suggestions, too. Happy World Series Week, baseball fans!

Finnick needs more sports and you know Dylan will join in for his friend Steve's sake :)

Yes good. Come Dylan and bond with Steve over your mutual lost baseball buddy Harper.

This all sounds awesome! XD

Oh, Quill is so totally down for that, bro.

Though Cridhe might be best... in the dugout. Or really far in out-field where nothing will happen.
Actually, probably the same for the Doctor, if only because he'll get distracted and ruin everything LOL

Now I'm imagining either of them as umpire and it's a beautiful thing.

Cridhe would just be lost, poor soul, but she'll look good doing it XD

(If Kitt ends up shortstop and the balls just go right through him, I will laugh so hard.)

Cat won't play in the match, but will come to the practice game. And need the rules explaining to him, which he won't understand and then he'll just do what he pleases anyway.

Everyone's welcome to watch and pop into the practice game even if they don't play in the real thing.

This is a tentative expression of interest - I have to see how much of my homework I get done over the weekend, but I might toss Nat and/or Annie towards. Steve's Nat's frand, and she quite enjoys sports - and Annie is secretly pretty damn sporty, and she enjoyed Steve's explanation of how baseball worked (if you're okay with handwavey that they kept chatting in holodeck thread, Gabs?)
Hopefully I get things done so I don't feel too crazy/overwhelmed and I get to play!

Depending on how many people I end up with by Tuesday (my Tuesday, that is), I'll toss up a list of the teams in the OOC comm and some basic rules for the game. So I'll keep your girls in the dugout for now, but if you know by day before I can zip them onto a team and all will be shiny!

They've got no idea how to play the game but they'll pick it up easily. "Hit ball with stick. Gotcha."I lied and learned interesting things. There is a game similar to Baseball in Ireland/Eire called Rounders. So they'll be familiar with it and have played it at home.
Put them on different teams!

"So you've upped your game since our last Harlem showdown."

You want a second baseman, or a trick thrower with a 120mph fastball? :)

and destroy a little property, oops.Exactly!
Applies to sparring - applies to baseball. *grin*
Ought to be fun.

(Except there will totally be a winner and a loser.)
I'm all about fun times! :D

Pretty sure Steve will win the contests of strength - but they'll be close enough to be interesting, and Sam will win the speed/reflexes stuff, but again, close enough to push each other - and then back and forth on random athletics.
Get into both of their competitive natures. Sam is going to have to learn about baseball, just for that.
