IC Holiday Party + Room Mixer, and a few Last Day of the Month Reminders!

Hello, everyone!

Our latest IC New Passenger Orientation + Roommate Mixer is now up in the main comm, but with a bit of a holiday twist! Read on under the cut for the skinny.

This month, you'll notice there is something definitely different about this log. Things seem just a little off, and when you reach the end you find out why: Q, the very trickster responsible for you being here, has bound and gagged poor Baldwin and stepped in to do the orientation under the guise of an officer! Does this mean he's around for threading? Yes, but for a limited time only.

Holiday top-levels: It may be a little late for a traditional holiday post, but as we're entering the final leg of kwanzaa, 2015, and who knows how many non-Earth holidays, Q has decided to bring out the holiday spirit anyway. The first two top levels are for gifts: the first is a "Secret Santa" hat provided by Q, which will give your character one gift — but that gift can be anything your character really wants, within reason; the second is a more traditional "Christmas Tree", where characters can exchange gifts with each other, or leave gifts for another passenger if they're too shy.

Chatting with Q: The third top-level is a dedicated area for any threads your characters may want to have with Q. There is an OOC warning posted on this top level, which we'll briefly repeat here: Q is a jerk. He's feeling pretty generous at the moment, and he's hoping everyone will want to come tell him how well he's done, but on the very slim chance that ain't happening he can get moody. And as the crew will tell you, that moodiness can sometimes demonstrate itself by physical pranking of your character. If you're not cool with this, you'll want to drop a note for the player here and let them know! Depending on how the conversation goes, threads may not be that long before he flits off somewhere else.

Rooming Info: This post is considered OTA; new characters can meet their new roommates and explore their quarters, and old characters can meet the neighbors or open their quarters for visitors. Don't forget that it is the end of the month, and that means: Reserves will be CLOSING and Apps will be OPENING tonight! In light of the holiday, we'll be opening apps an hour early at 11pm EST (GMT-5), and we'll leave them open until January 8th! You are not required to reserve with us in order to app, but it does help the process along.

A New TDM? If you're looking to test a voice out before making a commitment or need someplace to put a writing sample together, last month's Test Drive Meme is STILL OPEN! Please make a note to check the post for new potential applicants with fresh threads, and feel free to use this post until January ATP runs near the end of the month. AC Reminders: AC will run January 10th – 23rd, which will be the Sunday following apps. If you are unsure of what the AC requirements are, take a look at our AC reminders post from our last activity check. All proofs of activity must be in posts dated after July 25th to qualify. December applicants are exempt from January AC.

Because of AC, there will be no Check-In tomorrow. Our next Check-In will happen March 1-7. If you have any questions at all, please let us know!
