Updates on Day 3 of our Alemar III Game Plot:

Greetings, everyone!

It's the moment we've all been waiting for: the official wrap-up of our game plot. Day 2 stretched out a little longer than we originally intended, so we know many of you are eager to get some forward momentum going on the big resolution. What does that mean? Well I'll tell you.

On Day 3: All teams who were trapped in the underground facilities will finally be freed and reunited. That means our 3 cave-in groups will have the opportunity to flee to the planet's surface or join the main group by the elevators (note: this is where our final battle is taking place, so there will be some action). Those who were trapped aboveground likewise may join the action if they choose, as our first team of engineers will have the elevators working by then. Once everyone has been freed and accounted for, our Starfleet empaths, aided by our teams of historians, will call the fighting to a stop, reveal what they have learned, and start the peace treaty process. After this point, characters will all be officially brought back to the Enterprise.

How this plays out: We'll start the ball rolling for Day 3 this Friday, September 12th by getting our final fight and the rescue of our cave-in teams underway. Those who are part of the rescue team will be put in touch with your groups so you can make as many plans as you like. That means all Day 2 posts should be done by Friday, so if your groups have any unfinished plans, get them done by then. Day 3 events will be posted over the weekend, with the final event — the return to the Enterprise — happening on Sunday. This way all characters can establish themselves as being back on the ship by the time our new round of apps are processed, and business as usual can resume. As with the previous two game days, you can continue tagging plot posts however long is needed to wrap up what you start during the weekend.


Questions and Concerns: We love hearing them, and I'm going to take a moment to answer a few I've been spearheading for the last couple of weeks.
  1. How will all of this be posted? We wanted to give all participants the freedom to make as many posts as they wanted over the course of the plot, but there were some problems when it came down to deciding who was posting what and how it would be tagged. The party post for arrivals seemed to work well, and it was always our goal to do another one for the big reveals on Day 3, but a couple teams have asked if a similar format can be used for their team posts. Of course! The mods can set up posts for any teams who want them that way. We'll check in via the plotting e-mails to help organize this. You can also let us know in the comments section.
  2. Speaking of the plotting e-mails... A few players have had trouble using the e-mails, or found them difficult to track. Now that we're down to Day 3 and all the teams are about to be mixed anyway, we can make plotting posts in the OOC comm if there is interest in that. Since not everyone uses Plurk or AIM, we don't want anyone to get left out. Please still use your plotting e-mails in the meantime to refer to your team objectives or to contact the mods with problems since we're automatically linked in there, but if plotting posts will help we'll have them up as soon as possible.
  3. Real Life has been super crazy, will I cause problems if I can't tag quickly? Absolutely not! August seemed to be a not-so-good month for a lot of people, and that naturally slowed things down a bit. Please don't fret about that. We the mods love you guys and want you to have the most fun possible, and we've been in touch with a few people one-on-one who had to bow out of the plot for whatever reason or go on small hiatuses. If your team has lost a person and you're not sure how to proceed, we'll be happy to help. If you need to handwave interactions to make up for stalled threads, that's fine. If you can only tag once a day or sometimes less, also fine! Everyone's speed and circumstances are a little different, so hopefully going into Day 3 the mods will be better able to help. You are all awesome, and we have appreciated hearing from all of you over the last few weeks.
  4. What if my team hasn't finished their Day 1/Day 2 objectives? Backtagging any unfinished objectives can continue however long there's interest. If a team is short-handed or a player can't continue, just let your group know via the plotting e-mail. If it seems you're stalled on one thread in particular but can utilize party post style subthreads to thread different objectives simultaneously, let us know and we'll be happy to help your team with this if you want us to.

We'll start checking in with everyone via the plotting e-mails over the next few days, and set up more posts here in the OOC comm for those who had trouble with the emails. Again, we'll start the ball rolling on Day 3 this Friday with the final Day 3 posts happening on Sunday, so by Monday it will be business as usual back on the Enterprise. Those who need to thread out the fallout (such as wounded who need time in sickbay), can start as early as Monday, and we'll include a section for that in our plotting post.

One last thing: I personally want to thank everyone for being so awesome, creative, and patient over the course of this plot. We wanted to experiment a bit with different plotting formats, and we learned a lot from observing and chatting with all of you that we'll carry over to our next game plot. I know how long this stretched out wasn't ideal; due to Real Life, what was originally going to be run by 3 mods ended up being run by 1, and she is so grateful you've all been patient with her this whole time! You're the best. Thank you all for your input, and please keep it coming!
