Weekend Updates: Holiday Events, FAQs, Sickbay, and Rooming Assignments!

Greetings, Ten Forward!

Let's pretend it's still Friday somewhere in the world. ~wriggles fingers~ We have a number of updates coming your way today, so to keep your lists from getting flooded hang onto your hats and keep an eye out for updates throughout the day below!

☆ First off, sign-ups for Amy Pond's Blind Dating Service closed last night, and we are currently making all the matches, which should be done within the hour. We had a nice even 26 volunteers who will be put into 13 pairs and sent DMs with their match's contact info. We'll have a blind date mixer post IC tonight which you can utilize for your dates, but of course you are free to do your own thing in closed posts if you prefer.

ETA: And we have finished matching up all of our volunteers! I had a moment of confusion where I miscounted the number of volunteers, so John Crichton will be sitting these festivities out. Probably just as well, he's kind of a doofus. I can say that because I am his mun.

The Heart and Star separating each name represents the kind of relationship requested (with heart = romance and star = platonic), but it is merely a suggestion. All pairs can discuss amongst themselves what if anything they would like to happen on their dates. Again, an IC mixer will go up tonight, but pairs can tag into it at any time or do their own locked posts as they see fit. It's simply there for your convenience and plotting (such as if you are using one of the Date Gone Wrong options, like sitting at the wrong table).

All volunteers must participate and have at least one thread with their matched partner, so if you cannot participate for any reason please let us know so we can see to it your partner gets another match. You can thread as much as you like, using as many Date Gone Wrong scenarios as you like, and thread with other participants if you like, just so long as your pairing gets threaded.

IC, Amy ([personal profile] and_she_waited) will be on hand to help wherever she may be needed! Just drop her a DM or ping me on AIM @ gabby.normal or plurk @ [plurk.com profile] gabbynormal if you need her to pop in on a thread, and I will send her right over! If you need any other IC things, she has a post over here, I can send her round to one of your posts, and of course she'll be keeping an eye on the mixer. :)

☆ Secondly, we will be posting an open log for sickbay checkups over in the main comm shortly. If you are the player of one of our medical personnel or volunteers, leave a shout in the comments below so we know which doctors are on deck this month. If you have a medical character who is interested in volunteering in sickbay, Beverly Crusher will have a top-level comment where your character(s) can inquire IC about volunteering.

If you're new to the game, it's standard Enterprise procedure to quarantine those who have winked onto the ship until they can be checked for any terrible space diseases. Your character will be required to visit Sickbay for a standard check-up and a vaccine if necessary. Tagging in is optional and can be done at your leisure; if you prefer to handwave your character getting the all-clear from the docs, that is allowed. If you are tagging in, specify the name of the doctor you want in the subject line of your tag, and they'll tag you as soon as they're available. If you haven't made your IC Intro yet and would prefer to do that first, please feel free to backtag on the Sickbay log whenever it is convenient for you. It will remain open as long as there is a need for it. If you would like more details about sickbay, here's the wiki page.

Once your character has been cleared medically, they'll be released from quarantine, assigned permanent rooms, and allowed to move more freely around the ship. Restricted areas are, of course, still off-limits (such as the bridge, engine rooms, conference rooms, etc). Everyone passes through Sickbay once they arrive.

ETA: And our Sickbay log is live! Beverly Crusher, Julian Bashir, Sam Wilson, Mack Gerhardt, and Merlin are all on deck tonight, while our other doctors may poke in later. Simon Tam is unavailable this month.

☆ Third, we will be handling rooming assignments for all new characters and all characters who lost a roommate last month because of failed AC. If you would like to switch up your rooming situation, we do this approximately quarterly to three times a year as new characters shuffle in and old ones shuffle out. Since the list of characters getting new rooms is lengthy and being handled by another mod, it will get its own post later this afternoon where you can check out the details and let us know if we've gotten anything wrong. In the meantime, the master list of rooms and roommates is over here, and you can drop us a comment if your character has special needs (ie: if they can't room with someone else because of their temperament, if they prefer to be roomed with a family member, and things of that nature). ETA: Rooming post is up over here!

☆ Last, but certainly not least, the mods have been updating your FAQs to make them more comprehensive, and we will continue to do so throughout the coming weeks. We've been working hard to get things up to date and will continue to make note of all your suggestions going forward. Thanks so much for your input! Hopefully you'll be seeing a lot of good additions soon. :)

Sam's definitely good to be on deck for the open log!
