My comic books. Dad got me all of them back home.

Huh.

What else did these comic books tell you?

[goldencobra]

The Spiderman ones are all about you. How you became Spiderman. What you did. The villains you faced. That sort of thing.

[spideys]

And I'm one of the good guys, right?

[goldencobra]

Yeah! You're one of the Avengers!

[spideys]

[ There's a grin ...


and then a look of confusion.

Sadly PParker's way early in his superhero career, and things like Captain America and the Avengers are a bit unknown to him. Plus: SONY. :| ]


Avengers? They sound kinda menacing.

[goldencobra]

They're Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I think they're meant to so they can scare off the bad guys. "Oh no the Avengers are coming." kinda thing. They're cool.

[spideys]

Yeah - yeah, they sound cool.

So I get a team, huh? Am I the leader? Pleasesayi'mtheleaderthat'dbeawesome.

[goldencobra]

You're not the leader. Iron Man is probably the leader since he was part of the founding members but sometimes he lets Captain America call the shots.

[spideys]

[ Small sadface.

... And yet. ]


Iron Man?

Captain America?

These guys ... they do sound like heroes.

[goldencobra]

Yeah. You're a hero too.

[spideys]

Y'know, that's really nice to hear.

[goldencobra]

It's really nice to meet you!

[spideys]

Nice to meet you too, Henry.

Truthfully: I don't usually get that kind of reaction. There's a lot of 'menace' and 'interloper' and 'troublemaker' but very little 'hero'.

[goldencobra]

They don't know a good thing when they see one. Though the secret identity probably doesn't help. That might be why people like Iron Man and Captain America. Everybody knows they're Tony Stark and Steve Rogers.

[Shrugs]

[spideys]

Including their enemies.

[ Small sigh. ]

I have to keep my identity a secret to protect my aunt and others who might get hurt because of Spider-Man.

[goldencobra]

I know that! But they're still alive even though people know who they are. Then again, Steve was a Capsicle for almost 70 years...

[He seems to ponder on that, loving the name Capsicle.]

[spideys]

Right. [ Laughing lightly. ] I guess you do.


Uh - 'Capsicle'?

[goldencobra]

Oh, sorry. He was frozen in ice. Captain Icicle. It's what Tony calls him a lot.

[spideys]

Seventy years frozen in ice??

Wow, that's gotta suck.

[goldencobra]

Yeah. He's still catching up on recent events. Still cool though.

[spideys]

... so, when did the 70 years start?

[ He has a feeling he should read up on the Cap, too, if he can find the appropriate literature. ]

The end of the second world war. So about seventy years ago.

[spideys]

So right in my present-day.

[ Talk about getting a culture shock, though. Things are veeeeery different now. ]

Geez. How do I not know about Captain America?
