I saw this at another game and it amused me enough that I decided to steal it and post it here for the amusement of our cast.

So, here you go~

SHOUT YOUR CONFESSIONS MEME!!!

1. Post your character shouting a confession. ALL CAPS LOCK, ALL THE TIME.
2. ICly react to others' confessions.

I don't think it's a double standard if it's true, Steve. People are going to be interested in you, you're Captain America, the definition of a nice, single, man. I'm a brainwashed assassin who doesn't know how to be a normal person. [ She huffs out what might have been an attempt at a laugh, and turns out vaguely disappointed, the noise a child might make before they run to hold onto their comfort animal. Notably Sinthia lacks one of these, and just lowers her eyes so she's not looking directly at Steve's face. ]

I didn't leave humanity behind. I just...never had any to begin with.

[ His expression sours at her description of him. He doesn't say anything to argue, but sometimes being Captain America doesn't feel much like a compliment. He looks askance, shaking his head. ]

I don't believe that. I knew you when you were little, and you were plenty human. You are plenty human. Maybe you're different, but who isn't?

[ He reaches for her hand. ]

You are so much more than that, Sinthia. I can see it.

It's a compliment, Steve.

[ Her hands don't move, which is promising; if she were about to do anything quick, like disappear, she'd be snatching her hand away from him so as to not catch him mid-teleport. She still does it rarely, not liking the bitterly cold nothingness of the trip. ]

It goes a little beyond different. I'm sick of not knowing what to feel because I wasn't programmed to do it at all.

Maybe. It just doesn't feel like one.

[ He dips his head, partly out of remorse, and partly just because he doesn't want to catch her eyes. ]

That's assuming you have to feel a certain way about anything at all. Aren't there things you like, and things you don't like?

[ She watches the top of his head curiously; it's faint, but she can't ignore the feeling prickling in the bad of her head that she's doing something wrong. ] There are. Sometimes not...always one or the other.

[ He purses his lips. ]

Because I was invisible before Erskine took me under his wing. The only time anyone noticed me was when they were stuffing me into dumpsters. So yeah, it feels nice being noticed, but if being Captain America is the gold standard for nice, single men, where does that leave Steve Rogers?

[ He's still the same kid, deep down. He wants to be recognized for more than just his square jaw and shapely ass. ]

That's pretty normal, kid. You don't have to feel one way or another about something to fit in, you've just gotta find someone who likes the things you like. There's someone like that out there for everyone.

[ She blinks as if he doesn't entirely make sense to her, and takes a moment to be sure she's parsed it correctly. ] But you're still Steve Rogers. Captain America is just another name. I didn't know you before, though.

I don't...know what I like. Sometimes nothing feels like I should like it.

[ He twists a wry smile. ]

Yeah, but some people only see the shield and the cowl. I'm OK with being a hero, but with the people I love I'd rather be known more for liking art and flicks than who I fought and how I looked while I was doing it.

Figuring out what you like takes time. I'm in the same boat, you know. That's why I write notes to myself.

[ There's an oddly calming sensation, like a chill blanket settling down over her chest when he says what he'd rather be known for other than fighting. When she speaks she does so quietly so her voice won't carry, and while she is looking at Steve's face, she doesn't really see his features. ] You know I can't do that, Steve. [ Not that it matters, because they don't have that kind of relationship. ]

I don't know what I'd write. I might as well be talking to air.

Oh.

[ He looks down. He supposes being responsible for destroying someone's organization and killing their father is too hard to come back from. ]

Right, yeah. I just... uh, sometimes you just have to put pen to paper. The ideas will come to you as you go.

And if you only end up making doodles in the margins, I've done that too.

I don't blame you for that part, Steve. I told you you would have to kill him when we first met. [ It had been made abundantly clear to her even at that point that Johann Schmidt was not the kind of man to simply give up what he thought was important. Neither, it turned out, was Arnim Zola. ]

You just what?

[ The exhortations to write, she can understand those. She's been encouraged to keep a journal by half the people she's talked to on this ship, because they all seem to think it would help, but she can never manage to get across that she hasn't the faintest idea what she'd write, or that the idea of actually writing down any of what's floating around in her head--that anyone else could pick it up and read it--is faintly terrifying. ]

[ He doesn't want to answer that question, so he diverts. ]

I just sit there until something comes to me.

Listen, Sinthia, you've got a lot of living left to do. Things... maybe they don't make sense now, but that doesn't mean they won't change in the future. You've just gotta get there.

[ It's the best advice he can offer. ]

Some things make sense. [ Like Steve--sometimes. And Bucky, and mission parameters. Those things she is equipped to handle. Idly living with nothing else to do, nothing she can get orders from and follow, that's the part that she can't quite fit into, too much like a round peg in a square hole. If she could make herself fit it, she would, but Sinthia doesn't have the faintest idea how. ]

Just not many. Does it get better when you've been...out longer?

[ He pauses, and then nods slowly. ]

Yeah. It does.

...Did I say something wrong?

[ All of his body language says yes at this point; she can tell she has, just not what specifically yet. ]

[ He straightens some, realizing she's getting a read on him. Shaking his head, he gives her his best smile -- not too wide, because he's not interested in lying to her, he just wants to reassure her. ]

No, kiddo. I just think maybe you and I both have some reading to do.

[ To bring it back to the original topic. ]

I don't have all the answers, but -- we can look for them together.
