[ She peers at him for a few moments before dropping her gaze to the table, hand slipping out from under her chin. She's not sure what to say. ]

Well. I reckon that puts an end t'our unspoken contest over who's the best shooter in the West, seein' as how I'm the only one who — exists.

[ Her lips twitch. If it's a joke, it's a half-hearted one. But he was considerate of her feelings, so the least she can do is return the favor. ]

It's hard t'understand. But I like you, too.

[He smiles, rather more modestly than usual.]

[ She peters off, the intent clearly to devil him. Her eyes sparkle before softening into something much more affectionate. ]

Aw, Jim. Didja really think that could ever change?

[Jim's lips pucker into a pouty expression of mock indignation.]

You wound my pride, madam! However shall I recover?

[The facade can barely sustain itself for a few seconds. Jim cracks a wide grin.]

Naw, you'd miss me.

[ She crows with laughter. ]

You'd miss me. An' I'm sure your usual solution t'things will work just fine on your pride.

Still, I'm glad y'told me. Even if it's strange, it jus' means there's no secrets between us no more.
