TEST DRIVE #1 - Ten Forward

You know how you were standing there, back in your home world, just minding your own business?
Time to forget all about that.
Instead of doing whatever the heck you were just doing, you're standing in the middle of this very stylish, sedate barroom. Happily, you're not alone there - in fact you're surrounded by people who seem to be as confused as you are...and some of them look a little, well unusual
Now would be a great time to do....well, something. Ask some questions of the person nearest you, throw a fit, stage a coup....maybe do a little exploring? No matter what you do, you're going to be here for a very long time.
For others might call it the USS Enterprise, but for the foreseeable future, you'll be calling it home.
[OOC: this test drive's open until the next app period.]

"Captain James Tiberius Kirk is by far the more prolific name when considering Starfleet history," he agrees. "But if you are from the past, then perhaps he is a close relative."

It should be heartening to hear that. But it's kinda hard to believe when you keep universe hopping and they only know Jim. "You're thinking too linearly. Try more...parallel."
Give or take a few alternate universes. Jane can't even be certain.
OOC: So, I love her. :)
Parallel, she says.
"Jane Kirk," he repeats, smiling faintly. "Captain of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701, Constitution class, I presume?"
Unless that, too, is different.
OOC: <333 and I love him :D
"I'm not even from the weirdest. There's a universe where we all have Klingon duplicates." Enjoy wrapping your mind around that one, Picard. Jane sure hasn't yet and they were on her goddamn ship.
"So. How long have you been picking up strays?"
OOC: :D! He's so bemused by this whole turn of events.
He spares a moment to consider the possibility, wondering if Lieutenant Worf would be more pleased or insulted by the notion. It's a difficult one to fully encompass, he must admit, and so his pondering ends only in quiet laughter.
"Not long, at least not in this particular fashion," he says. "We—that is, the Human race—has won the attention of a powerful and impish alien race, one of whom seems to take great delight in trying my patience."
OOC: Jane would be happy to tell him that at least this time the universe isn't unravelling...
Jane runs a hand down her face and leans forward. "Have we figured out what they really want yet?"
OOC: Well, that's comforting. ~facepalm~ <3
Picard wouldn't mind the counsel of one as noteworthy as Spock, though undoubtedly he would be just as unamused with Picard as with Kirk. "The Q's motives seem, at heart, to be testing us. To see if we are worthy to continue growing and expanding. However, I would not guess on what is behind this current charade; he was not on good standing with his Collective when last we met."
