TEST DRIVE #1 - Ten Forward

You know how you were standing there, back in your home world, just minding your own business?

Time to forget all about that.

Instead of doing whatever the heck you were just doing, you're standing in the middle of this very stylish, sedate barroom. Happily, you're not alone there - in fact you're surrounded by people who seem to be as confused as you are...and some of them look a little, well unusual

Now would be a great time to do....well, something. Ask some questions of the person nearest you, throw a fit, stage a coup....maybe do a little exploring? No matter what you do, you're going to be here for a very long time.

For others might call it the USS Enterprise, but for the foreseeable future, you'll be calling it home.

[OOC: this test drive's open until the next app period.]

"I am ze nawigator aboard her," he says distractedly, taking in Geordi's rather...different eyewear. Pavel has never seen the likes of that.

"Ensign Chekov, Pavel Andreievich," he introduces, and holds out a hand. "...Or at least I am on my Enterprise."

Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge has a good sense of humor. He chuckles, tipping his head to one shoulder.

"I'm sorry to correct you, Ensign Chekov, but I know the navigator here pretty well and you're not him," he says, shaking the boy's hand. "Although... we have had some strange passengers lately. Tell me about your Enterprise."

"She is ze USS Enterprise NCC 1701, launched in tventy-two fifty-eight under ze command of Keptin Christopher Pike," he says, as if at a loss. Surely, the man knows the ship. It has to be related to this one. Nothing else makes sense...though Pavel will be the first to admit not much makes sense with this second.

"Vat else do you not know?"

Geordi's look is one of awe.

"You don't say," he breathes, stroking his chin. Suddenly, he snaps his fingers and points at the ensign, excited laughter drifting off his tongue. "Pavel Andreievich Chekov, I don't believe it!"

He claps his hands, barely able to contain himself. "Ensign Chekov, how do I say this? You're standing on the Enterprise NCC-1701-D. Welcome to the 24th Century, my friend."

Pavel's brows shoot up when the man snaps and points at him, like he's been caught not paying attention in Spock's classes--which he'd never do but still, it's the same response.

For a long moment he only blinks at the man. "Ze....vhat."
mr_laforge: (Golly gee whiz ma'am)

"The 24th Century," Geordi repeats, standing up. "Captain Christopher Pike is a legend. I learned about him while I was in the academy."

As well as Captain James T. Kirk and his crew, which Geordi almost says out loud before he stops himself short. "I'm sorry, this must be strange for you. What's the stardate?"

Pavel rattles it off, and pinches the bridge of his nose as he begins to wonder what he just walked into and where in the world he is.

"Zen...you know about ze mission ve are on?" he asks. "To Wulcan?"
mr_laforge: (What the shit.)

Geordi nods at the series of numbers, stroking his chin. He uses a different system than the one they use, but it seems to match up.

"Mission to Vulcan?" he repeats, partly to be sure he understood him right. "I don't know which mission you mean right off the top of my head, no. Under the command of Christopher Pike? Hmm."
