TEST DRIVE #6 - The Bridge and Ten Forward

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprise's off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...

Option 02. The Bridge: Well, aren't you a lucky duck? You've found yourself in hallowed quarters. Wherever you were before, you're not there anymore. Now you're in a room that could be some kind of command center or control room; there's a captain's chair flanked by seats for his chief officers, computer panels and stations at each interior wall, and before you a broad viewscreen that shows the wide expanse of space rushing towards you. Have you ever wanted to be a starship captain for a day? Well, here's your chance. Feel free to roam around, but try not to touch anything shiny.

[OOC: The Bridge isn't usually available for in-game posts, so if you've ever wanted to play there, here's your chance!]

Niko's confused look ebbed to mournful. He could at least work out what "synthehol" meant. He didn't see why people would drink something that tasted as terribly as alcohol if the buzz wore off immediately.

"Oh," he observed anticlimactically. "I guess I am out of luck then, friend." Which was a pity because he could really use that drink. He couldn't shake his worries, and it had seemed like a good way to forget.

He worked his expression into a tight little frown and pushed the glass away, then adjusted his fingerless gloves. Well, he guessed he was done trying for the night. He guessed he would have to lay out some sort of strategic plan to find a real drink in this place.

"It seems the Federation operates a "no alcohol" rule." Which makes sense, if you think about it, given the sensitive equipment on the Enterprise.

"Have you had the situation explained to you?"

He sighed so hard that it was a surprise he didn't just deflate in the chair. "Not very much, no. At least they left out the stuff about there being no alcohol. Shit, even in the merchant navy there was vodka."

Niko wasn't an overly frequent drinker, though. Mostly when he had company and wanted to forget. Abruptly stopping wouldn't require a trip to the infirmary but... he really wanted to forget his concerns for a little while. He guessed that was asking a little much.

"How long you been here?"

"A few weeks, if I had to guess." He's not bothered learning how these humans do time. What's the point? Besides, he had other things to look into, far more important things.

"The crew are friendly, and very accomodating. This would be an ideal situation, if the circumstances were different."

"Yeah, I noticed people are nicer to each other." He sounded skeptical, though. Everything the federation was, his world wasn't. He couldn't take it at face value. Nothing made sense this way.

He stacked up his empty glasses to be taken away.

"No situation is ideal, though. There is always something fucked up that you don't see."
