TEST DRIVE #6 - The Bridge and Ten Forward

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprise's off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...





Option 02. The Bridge: Well, aren't you a lucky duck? You've found yourself in hallowed quarters. Wherever you were before, you're not there anymore. Now you're in a room that could be some kind of command center or control room; there's a captain's chair flanked by seats for his chief officers, computer panels and stations at each interior wall, and before you a broad viewscreen that shows the wide expanse of space rushing towards you. Have you ever wanted to be a starship captain for a day? Well, here's your chance. Feel free to roam around, but try not to touch anything shiny.

Yes, that would be...complicated.

I suppose you can think of this as some sort of demented vacation.

I think that sums up the lives of most people I know.

[ Which is about as much approval as he's going to offer right now. ]

I'm not really one for vacations.

But you're on a forced vacation, so you might as well make the best of it.

That's what I do. I do things out here that I won't do back home.

Doesn't tend to end well when people try to force me to do things.

[There are so many ways Alec is thinking about answering that one.]

So, does that mean you're going to not make this a vacation and do things you'd normally do back home?

[He leaves off exactly what Those Things are, because he's not sure where Magneto is in his timeline or even all the various possible iterations.]

After a fashion, yes.

[ He is being vague on purpose? Very possibly. Though it's equally likely to be his version of 'that's none of your business' as it is to be covering plotting. ]

[Alec gives him a bit of a wry and amused look.]

It sounds like you're doing better.

[ He smirks. ]

I adapt quickly.

Well, good!

So, how much do you trust me? After everything I've told you about myself. Because if you do, I've got some stuff with actual alcohol in it that I'd be willing to share.

I'm willing to trust you for a drink.

[ It was a place to start, anyway. ]

[From somewhere... as he does... Alec pulls out a glass bottle of whiskey. On the label is a crow (or a raven) and the name McCallum Whiskey. Which he then offers to Magento.]

This stuff? I found it in this one universe and the recipe has been handed down through the female members of this Eire family for generations and was originally given to the family by the Morrigan. This is some of that ridiculous expensive and yet completely worth the price and they could charge more if they wanted to stuff.

[Then, from the same place, he pulls out a pair of glasses.]

I don't even know how they make the stuff and I've tried figuring it out.

[The whiskey is really good whiskey. Alec isn't exaggerating on this particular point.]
