TEST DRIVE #2 - The Holodeck/Ten Forward

Where were you a minute ago? Well, you aren't there anymore. Instead, you're standing in a very large, dark room lined with yellow. There are doors at either end of it.

Here's where things get a little choose your own adventure-y. You could:

1: Approach a console filled with buttons, located a few feet away. Press one, and it'll let you out of the room. Travel down a long hallway and you'll be in Ten Forward, the Enterprises' entertainment lounge. Have a drink, mingle and try to figure out why you're here.

OR

2: Maybe you just muttered some vague request under your breath. Maybe you wished aloud you were somewhere else. Or for help? If you did, might be in a fire station. Muttered something about killing whoever dumped you here? Surprise - you're in a slasher movie!

Though they're confusing, these visions feel about as real as they can be. And guess what - other people can experience those fantasies with you, as if they too were really there. How ever will you escape? Or do you want to?

[OOC: Welcome to the Holodeck! If you choose this option, whatever your character chooses to say out loud will cause a virtual reality program to load and play. While your character feels as if what they're experiencing and seeing is quite real, they're purely living through the latest and best in what he Enterprise has to offer in entertainment. Make sure to detail what your character's fantasy is, so that those threading with them will know how to react.

Open til next month's test drive!]

Kaylee didn't recognise the sounds of the engines. They were far different from Serenity's steady rumble (and occasional stutter). There was a brief panic as she wondered if the Alliance had caught up with them but it sounded like no Alliance ship she had ever heard. The Captain and Zoe wouldn't stay in the room, they'd be out of here guns blazing. Seemed like the best thing she could do was wait for them to find her. When no one came and she'd heard no sound for ten minutes, she crept towards the door. Nothing. She came up to the control panel and examined it.. "Seems simple enough," she said to herself as she let herself out.

The corridor was big, it was three times the size of Serenity's and it made her mouth hanging open. There were no ships in the galaxy like it. And with no guards to keep her here, she ventured forward. She could find somethin' out about the ship for the Captain.

She heard laughter and stepped into the entertainment lounge. "Shiny," she murmured, "Real shiny."

"That might actually be the best description for this place," says Noriko, who's still holding tight to the strap of her shoulder bag.

"It is very shiny." All the weird not-plastic-not-metal-definitely-not-glass surfaces are screwing with Noriko's ability to quantify this place.

"Ain't sure what to make if it," Kaylee admits which his strange, she can usually work out most materials. Part of her is itching to explore and get to working the ship out. She sticks out her hand. "I'm Kaylee. Nice ta meet you." The girl doesn't look like a threat. "Did ya kidnapped too?"

[ooc: I just spent five minutes squeeing. I have an X-23 and an Elixir account.]

Noriko freely admits that zero things going on in this room are making sense to her, except maybe the confusion and the drinking. Those will always be recognizable to an X-Man, they do both so very often.

"Yeah, I...well. I was in the hallway at my school, so however I ended up here probably counts as kidnapped," she says, taking the hand offered with her own. It might feel weird to have polished metal wrap around your fingers natural as can be, but Noriko's halfway forgotten how weird it potentially is to normal people. "Ashida Noriko. Call me Nori," she says lightly.

[ooc: OH MY GOD YAY BRING THEM~ I heart Josh and Laura so much! *shiny eyes*]

"School, are you studin' to be a doctor or something." Kaylee's eyes widen at the metal. Sure she's seen a few things in Persephone but nothing like this. Not to be one to stand on ceremony she keeps a hold of the hand. Even kidnap doesn't dampen her enthusiasm for new things.

"How do they work? Looks like they were made to fit you just right."

[ooc: If I can't get an app ready for one of them before the apps close, I will definitely reserve! Would you prefer Josh or Laura. The New X-men is one of my favourite comic runs]

"No, no. It's sort of complicated--I live at the school, but it's not a college or anything. I want to be an engineer," she says, smiling.

"They were made to fit me. I mean, the original ones were really bulky and really unstable, but as they get more efficient they also get slimmer. And they fit right against my arms, so they're not too loose. They kind of have to be tight."

[ooc: Either! I'm totally good with either one and would adore you, omg.]

"I'm a ship's mechanic." Kaylee thinks nothing of having a job that ain't usually reserved for girls. Ships talk to her and that is all that matters. If they're stuck here and they ain't captive, she will do anything to het down to the engine room for a look around.

"What are they for?"

"Li'l Kaylee, is that you?" calls a voice.

Zoë's found a seat in the corner of the room where she can see everything and everyone. She ain't found anybody else from Serenity, but it's not the first time she's been alone in enemy territory. Not that folk here have been all that ornery, but she don't care much for not knowing where she is.

Or where Mal and her Husband is.

"Gǎnxiè shàngdì. How long have you been here?"

[personal profile] shiny 2014-06-07 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Zoe," Kaylee sounds relieved. She quickly locates her among the seats and her shoulders relax. Zoe's guns weren't out and pointed at half the room. There weren't a problem yet. "Just got here," she thinks. "Any sign of the Captain?"

She drops into a seat beside Zoe. "People are wearin' some strange uniforms."

Her eyebrow tics.

"You ain't seen the half of it when it comes to weird," she says, though under that judgmental expression dances a little amusement. Wash would be loving this, Hawaiian shirt and all. "No sign of the captain, or anyone else for that matter, till you showed up."

Part of her is glad to see Kaylee here, and another part of her is worried. She makes better company than Jayne, that's for damn sure, but she's not half as good with a weapon.

"I think we're a long ways from home."
mr_laforge: (Golly gee whiz ma'am)

[personal profile] mr_laforge 2014-06-06 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
As she's coming in, the chief engineer is on his way out.

"I'm sorry," he says, smiling apologetically. He steps out of her way, but pauses long enough to talk. "From the look on your face, you must be new."
shiny: (unhappy)

[personal profile] shiny 2014-06-07 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
'Yup," Kaylee nods her head. "Do ya get of new people?" She isn't the Captain or Zoe, she ain't able to pull a gun on someone or act all intimidating to get answers. She cocks her head one side as the door closes and listens to the smooth sound they make.

"What class of ship am I on?"
mr_laforge: (She said whaaaaat?)

[personal profile] mr_laforge 2014-06-25 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not going to be a problem, Geordi turns to putty in the hands of a pretty woman. Particularly one who needs help.

"Galaxy-class," he says. "This is the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D. We don't usually get visitors quite like this. You probably didn't mean to board, huh?"

He does look sympathetic. The VISOR doesn't detract from his facial expressions at all.
