TEST DRIVE #2 - The Holodeck/Ten Forward

Where were you a minute ago? Well, you aren't there anymore. Instead, you're standing in a very large, dark room lined with yellow. There are doors at either end of it.
Here's where things get a little choose your own adventure-y. You could:

1: Approach a console filled with buttons, located a few feet away. Press one, and it'll let you out of the room. Travel down a long hallway and you'll be in Ten Forward, the Enterprises' entertainment lounge. Have a drink, mingle and try to figure out why you're here.
OR
2: Maybe you just muttered some vague request under your breath. Maybe you wished aloud you were somewhere else. Or for help? If you did, might be in a fire station. Muttered something about killing whoever dumped you here? Surprise - you're in a slasher movie!
Though they're confusing, these visions feel about as real as they can be. And guess what - other people can experience those fantasies with you, as if they too were really there. How ever will you escape? Or do you want to?
[OOC: Welcome to the Holodeck! If you choose this option, whatever your character chooses to say out loud will cause a virtual reality program to load and play. While your character feels as if what they're experiencing and seeing is quite real, they're purely living through the latest and best in what he Enterprise has to offer in entertainment. Make sure to detail what your character's fantasy is, so that those threading with them will know how to react.

"I do hope I'm not too much of a distraction. What are you working on?"
no subject
"I, uh, I'm trying to catch up the last ninety years of computing theory." Her mouth curves, the expression wry. "That's one thing they don't tell you about being stuck in the future."
no subject
"This year, the version of me native to this timeline is still at the Academy. I'm not sure which way I'd rather have it."
He curls his hands around the cup of tea he's holding. "Have you spoken with some of the engineers already? I know a few of them personally, a few years later at least, and all of them are brilliant."
Especially the Chief, but he's biased.

That seems somewhat paradox-inducing. And yet, the universe seems to be carrying on.
"And I have, actually! But there's so much I need to relearn and they are so busy. And the version of me in this timeline never was at the Academy anyway, so no one knows what my status should be."
Temporally lost civilian?
no subject
"It's not altogether unheard of, though the only other example I know involves a transporter accident..."
Julian shrugs, waves it off. Story for another time. "Well, most likely you'll have your same rank, I would think. Perhaps they'll test you on the current standards, but with a bit of study you'll surely catch right up. If that was what you wanted, of course."

There is a touch of defensiveness there, but then again, she's an Orion. Even in the future, it seems, people still look at her and think pirate, or slave.
(She really, really hates the Syndicate.)
"Um, I'm sorry, Gaila betIlley, Acting Ensign and Cadet."
no subject
"Oh, no, please, if I am being an ass do remind me of it. The usual people who take it upon themselves to keep me in line aren't about." He smiles, looking a bit sheepish. "I honestly didn't mean it that way, but I do have a bit of trouble with my mouth sometimes."
"Lieutenant Julian Bashir. Or Doctor, if you prefer. Chief Medical Officer of a station that doesn't exist yet."
no subject
"I can have a, uh, what Humans call it. A chip on the shoulder?" That one.
Moving on-
"Nice to meet you, sir."
no subject
"I think despite the tea, I'm really rather too drunk to be on duty, even if I had it, so just Bashir would be fine."
He's only very slightly buzzed, so drunk is really exaggerating things.

Gaila slants him a glance.
"So now we have three Chief Medical Officers on-board. How are you finding that?"
no subject
"Pretty soon it'll be standing room only in Sickbay, just because there's so many doctors floating about."
no subject
"On the plus side, there should be plenty of opportunity for away missions."
no subject
Though he doubts it.
"Well, if we have to be stuck anywhere the Enterprise is by far the best."
no subject
"Some things never change. She was the ship to be on in my time."
