TEST DRIVE #2 - The Holodeck/Ten Forward

Where were you a minute ago? Well, you aren't there anymore. Instead, you're standing in a very large, dark room lined with yellow. There are doors at either end of it.

Here's where things get a little choose your own adventure-y. You could:

1: Approach a console filled with buttons, located a few feet away. Press one, and it'll let you out of the room. Travel down a long hallway and you'll be in Ten Forward, the Enterprises' entertainment lounge. Have a drink, mingle and try to figure out why you're here.

OR

2: Maybe you just muttered some vague request under your breath. Maybe you wished aloud you were somewhere else. Or for help? If you did, might be in a fire station. Muttered something about killing whoever dumped you here? Surprise - you're in a slasher movie!

Though they're confusing, these visions feel about as real as they can be. And guess what - other people can experience those fantasies with you, as if they too were really there. How ever will you escape? Or do you want to?

[OOC: Welcome to the Holodeck! If you choose this option, whatever your character chooses to say out loud will cause a virtual reality program to load and play. While your character feels as if what they're experiencing and seeing is quite real, they're purely living through the latest and best in what he Enterprise has to offer in entertainment. Make sure to detail what your character's fantasy is, so that those threading with them will know how to react.

Open til next month's test drive!]

Henry had heard the door open but had ignored it. Usually someone checks to see if the holodeck was in use but with all the new people, that wasn't always the case. He expected to hear the door again but didn't. Instead, footsteps closer and...was that Regina's voice?!

He sat up on the bed, pondering going to investigate but then decided it against it. She'd probably come up here anyway, yes he could hear her on the stairs. She could come to him, he wasn't going to her. So he lay back down and continued to tell the computer what to do.

As an afterthought, he asked the computer for a holographic version of a heart to be placed into his hand. Something to pretend to be control over and it was more ambiguous than the dagger. A heart could belong to anyone after all.

She can hear his voice, and her pace quickens.

"Henry? Henry, is that—?" she calls, rounding the corner into his room.

He came home. Even if this isn't really their home, it's a deceptively good hologram. How many times has she thought about this moment? How many times has she hoped he would choose her over Emma, and just come home? She lets herself hope for one aching moment until she sees him.

And then it all comes crashing in.

"Henry, what are you doing?" she cries, face moued.

Thankfully for her, the door had been left open and he was still playing with the heart in his right hand.

"Oh hey, Mom." He spoke casually, not bothering to answer her question because it was quite obvious what he was doing and these days, he didn't even have to do anything she said. His power probably trumped her anyway.

"Computer: Move the poster two centimetres to the right." The poster disappeared and reappeared in the new position after a beep of confirmation from thin air. "Much better."

He finally turned to look at Regina, speaking again casually, almost bored by her presence. "Can I help you?"

She rushes into the room, though she hasn't quite decided what she's going to do beyond demanding to know who's heart is in his hand. When he speaks to the computer, she stops. That's right, this isn't real. It's just an illusion.

A horrible, disturbing illusion.

She watches in muted horror as he goes about his business, passively acknowledging her existence. As if everything were normal. As if he wasn't playing with someone's heart.

She takes a step back, slowly peering around the room.

"This isn't real," she mutters to herself, taking it all in. The room, the house, Henry. "This is just a trick."

There was a subtle eyeroll and then Henry finally moved off the bed, throwing the heart onto it and speaking again to the computer.

"Computer. Save and end program." He stared at the heart, watching it disappear with everything else leaving just the two of them standing in the chequered room. He gave a small sigh because he had liked holding that heart but then he turned his attention back to his mother, who he had half expected not to be real.

"I am very real, thank you very much. Now I repeat, can I help you?"

The look on her face makes it evident that she expected him to disappear with the rest of the program. Now that they are alone, in this strange, empty room, she has nothing to draw her attention but the boy who looks so very much like her son, pale and icy as if covered with a fresh snow.

Snow.

She closes her mouth, steeling herself as much as possible to face his clear hatred of her. Whatever those Charmings have told him, she's still his mother. Rushing in, she drops into a crouch and takes him by the shoulders.

"Henry," she pleads, forcing the desperation from her voice as much as possible. She is not weak. "I know you think you hate me now, but I still love you. I'm still your mom. We can work through this, everything you're angry about, just please—please give me the chance."

That wasn't the reaction Henry had expected. He blinked several times, just looking at her as she spoke. What she was saying made no sense.

Slowly, he raised a hand and pressed it to her chest to feel her beating heart. That explained one thing - her emotional state. She still had her heart so either she was from his past before he took it, or from the future when it was returned to her. Assuming his plan worked.

He turned the words over in his mind and came to the conclusion she was from the past. And while he didn't have Gold's dagger to control him, he could easily control her if he took her heart.

Smirking quite evilly, he moved his hand back slightly from her chest before moving it forwards at a quicker pace in the hopes of being able to penetrate and pull out the organ.

(ooc: if this isn't okay, let me know and i'll change it. thanks.)
