Test Drive #7 - Ten Forward and Captain's Yacht

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprise's off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...

Option 02. The Captain's Yacht: Oooh, you sneaky stowaway! You've found yourself in a very exclusive part of the ship: Captain Picard's personal craft, used for short jaunts when a shuttle just won't do. (One must retain some decorum, after all.) It may not be as large as the Enterprise itself, but there are sure to be some surprises aboard once people start snooping.

[OOC: The Captain's Yacht is located at the very base of the Enterprise's saucer portion, so if you put someone in there you can also play them trying to get back to somewhere they know!]

"Hmm? This place, oh a newbie!" Matt smiled as he turned to face her, face alight. "This is the Starship Enterprise, of the Federation of Planets. And you are the latest mysterious arrival by way of Q, the infinitely annoying cosmic being."

He waggled his eyebrows at her. The bartop started to speak. "YOU forgot to tell-"

"Hey! I'm handling this!"

Matt shook his head and then smiled at the woman. "I'm Matt Prept, fellow abductee, and current student of the 24th century." he stuck out a hand to her.

Domino was bored too. The Enterprise was a snooze, there was nothing to do and nobody to do it with. She was mostly wandering angrily by this point, stomping around like a petulant child. She tended to stay in the bar more often than not, because being drunk was better than being aware of how bored she was.

She looked around the bar when she went in, like she did every single time she entered any room. There weren't any lurking dangers, nobody waiting to gun her down, unfortunately. Instead there were just the regulars.

She'd seen the Iron Bull before, in passing. He looked like the kind of guy she liked to be around, and he looked as endlessly bored as she felt. She grabbed a drink first, making her way over to the giant, mostly naked man. "So what's your deal? Someone mug you for your clothes?"

Belle shook her head and laughed at the kid's problem. "Most of the time they don't talk so much. They must like you." She winked at him, smiling when her food arrived. The onion rings smelled amazing, and she ate a couple before she said anything else.

"So why do the things talk to you? You got some kinda powers?" She was curious about how that worked. Nothing that should be inanimate ever talked to her, and the things seemed to know him.

Bull kept his eye on people as they came and went. He'd seen the woman with the tattoo, the way she always looked when she walked in. Someone who knew better than to just assume a room was clear because it was familiar. He was half way through a drink he was pretty sure had coacoa in it in some form when she walked over.

"Yeah, you see anyone running around with a bright yellow tent with arm holes, let me know." Bull said, laughing as he shook his head. "I'm Qunari. We don't do shirts." He gestured up to his horns. He could wear a shirt, but he didn't feel like it. After spending most of his life not wearing shirts, they just felt weird.

"The voices mostly come around when I'm alone. I don't think they like people." Matt watched her as he ate a few more onion rings, stuffing his test back into his bag and settling better. She was pretty hot!

When she spoke, he grinned. "Something like that. I don't really know. Had the powers since I was a baby. My crib used to sing me to sleep, and my books would tell me stories." He chuckled. "No one ever teased me, because their things told on them."

"Sheeze, boss, don't give up all our secrets!" A Chicago-accented voice spoke from Matt's sneakers and he chuckled. "Shush you."

He turned back to the woman. "I'm Matt Prept."

Elizabeth nodded as she took all that in. It was a lot to digest. When he introduced himself she smiled, though her expression was still bemused, and held out her hand to shake his. "I'm Elizabeth. It's the 24th century? That's a long time from home." She wasn't terribly upset by that. Home didn't exist anymore, she hoped. Not if she'd done the right thing.

Domino snorted at his description of his potential shirt. When he said he didn't do shirts she took it as an invitation to admire the extensive exposed areas of his body. He was definitely her type, even with (maybe especially because of) the bull horns. At least she knew what to expect going in.

"I don't see a problem with you not having a shirt. I'm Domino, it's nice to meet you." She smirked at him for a moment before taking another drink. Whatever it was tasted strong and her tongue was just a tiny bit numb from contact with the drink.

For a second, a sarcastic reply was armed and ready on the tip of her tongue. Necromancers scared the crap out of her. And, as she often did when feeling threatened, Fatima was prepared to put up all her defenses, which included a healthy dose of snark.

But she stopped herself.

Sometimes, gathering information was more important than playing it safe.

"Yeah," she said. "I think that would be interesting."

"Nice to meet you, Elizabeth!" He shook her hand bouncily and grinned wider.

"It's a long way for me, too." he glanced around, and smiled. "This place isn't so bad. We have to go through a minor quarantine to here, sickbay, and our guest rooms for a little while, and then we get rooms while we try to figure out what to do here. So far, no one has figured out a way home."

He rubbed his face, thinking. "People are brought here from all over time and space, from different universes, like."

[personal profile] poisonwine 2015-01-22 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
Belle chuckled in amusement at the entire Matt Prept experience. She held out her hand to him to shake, a warm smile on her face. "I'm Belle. It's nice to meecha. Sounds like you got a nice little circle of informants. I guess I'll have to be nice to you." She grinned at her joke so he'd know that it was one. There was no sense in offending anyone, even a kid. In her experience kids were perfectly capable of being nasty.

[personal profile] oiseau_ou_cage 2015-01-22 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Quarantine? Oh, I suppose that makes sense. If someone came in with the Black Death you'd want them to be isolated." She frowned lightly as she thought about it. "That's a really large quarantine area, though, and there are a lot of people. How do they stop people from getting sick? I could have diseases they've never even heard of and not know it."

Matt met her hand with his own and winked at her, then nodded. "May I ask what your accent is from? It's gorgeous!" He didn't add the 'like you', but it hung there silent, anyway.

Matt smiled warmly. "The guys and girls work for me. I always look out for people. After all, if I don't at my height? Who will?" Matt was short, and thin, and he had always been so. He knew what it was like to be the smallest and he had always made sure the smallest around him were safe.

"How long have you been here?"
animattrix: (Smirk 1)

[personal profile] animattrix 2015-01-22 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Yup. Or, you know, like, alien fevers of some kind." He shuddered. "Well, you go to Sickbay from here first thing. They give you shots and start the tests right then. It just takes a little while fore the final tests to be complete. But what they do do helps keep people from catching anything you might have."

Matt nodded to her.

[personal profile] poisonwine 2015-01-22 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, thank you," Belle said with a smile. "I'm from New Orleans, in America." He sounded American, but she wanted to be clear because this was the future and God only knew how accents had evolved over time.

His comment about being small made her laugh a little. She was tall for a woman and proportional. Still, her physical size didn't make her dangerous. "It's the little ones you gotta look out for, little one. Harder to protect your belly than your chest."

[personal profile] animattrix 2015-01-22 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh cool! I always wanted to go there, but didn't get a chance before I went to Hell." Matt nodded and grinned. "Yeah, especially if you can do this." and the fabric of his backpack wiggled stretched and did a backflip, all on its own.

Cable settled to the chair near her and nodded to her. "Evening, Miss." With the metal showing on his arm and his his glowing cybernetic eye, he was hard to miss. That and he was a giant man sitting on a reinforced bar seat.

There was a blink of light, and an Elf, dressed in simple, yet elegantly made Elven clothes, walked forward a few steps, then stopped short in surprise. His hands clenched on the bag he had in one hand, which he dropped to his feet. That hand joined his other hand on the sheathed sword it held. His eyes widened in surprise as he saw the crowd of mostly Men and he started to turn when the ring on his right hand flared into brilliant blue light.

He flinched but doesn't cry out as he stared at it in reaction. Looking behind him, where a door to his private chambers had been, he soundly cursed. He closed his eyes and rubbed his face, then sighed. Why now? Why him? He had merely been getting ready to finally leave, to go home, to meet his wife after thousands of years... his hands twisted on the sword so hard the sheath and metal creaked, before he regained control. His eyes opened once more and he nodded. Very well.

Moving with practiced motions, he strapped the sword onto his hip and picked up the bag he had dropped and walked forward toward the bar. Somehow, he neither looked at nor touched anyone else along the way. He settled to a barstool, thankful for long ago years of associating with humans, and then nodded. He would wait. He knew, from long experience, that something or someone would find him. And if he was here instead of where he wanted to be, then he had nothing but time.

Elrond Half-Elven had learned in his over-6000 years to be very, very, patient.

From his wallet Theo pulls out a card that's driver licence sized and shows it to her. She can take it if she wants. It does look like a driver's licence in many ways. It's got his picture on it; stats hair (blond), eye color (silver), race (demi-god); and who gave him his license (King's College London). It also states that he's a "blood" necromancer. His name, also on there, is Theodred Kaylin Sammeth.

With a twitch of a smile on his face, Theo says, "Adrienne would probably suggest boytoy. Though I imagine 'divine one' is the most appropriate. That's what my cultists call me."

"And I am not one such, nor do I know the word divine." She was not commenting on the other without a weapon in hand.

Theo's wife has a terrible sense of humor in regards to their relationship at times. Or at least who wears the pants in the relationship.

"Divine refers to a god or demi-god. It's also considered to be the appropriate way to address one... at least if you want to be polite without having to go through all the titles."

(I am finding this terribly amusing) "If divine is the proper title, then," she said, reluctant to use a title she so ill understood, and having a feeling it was more a portent than she realized.

Oh. This had the potential to turn into a pretty good day. Bull grinned a little wider and finished off his drink in a big gulp and set the empty cup aside.

"I'm the Iron Bull." He gestured towards her drink with a quick but small motion. "You like the strong stuff huh? I can almost taste it from over here." It definitely put the drink he just finished to shame, but he liked to only hit the really hard stuff when he was celebrating or just to try out something new.

The part of the ship that served as a tavern was Bull's usual spot. He got to watch all kinds of people doing- well, not as many different kinds of things as people did in the tavern in Skyhold, but it could still be pretty interesting. The blink of light out of the corner of his remaining eye drew his attention.

The clothing was something that could have almost fit in somewhere in Thedas. Didn't match anything he knew, nor did the guy wearing it. He was too graceful and the ears definitely said 'not-human'. They were pointy but not large enough to be elf ears. But all in all he was taking arriving on the ship pretty well. Better than Bull did, any way.

He finished off the drink (which wasn't much, the cups here were way too small for someone a couple feet taller than the average other person on the ship) and made his way over. "You're taking this really well. Weird shit like this happen to you often?"

Fatima took the card, half incredulous, half frightened, and half curious. She didn't care that that was three halves. She was a little too caught up in the idea of a licensed necromancer.

But then, that wasn't really what caught her attention.

"Demi-god?"
