Test Drive #7 - Ten Forward and Captain's Yacht

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprise's off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...

Option 02. The Captain's Yacht: Oooh, you sneaky stowaway! You've found yourself in a very exclusive part of the ship: Captain Picard's personal craft, used for short jaunts when a shuttle just won't do. (One must retain some decorum, after all.) It may not be as large as the Enterprise itself, but there are sure to be some surprises aboard once people start snooping.

[OOC: The Captain's Yacht is located at the very base of the Enterprise's saucer portion, so if you put someone in there you can also play them trying to get back to somewhere they know!]

"That makes sense. A redirected energy spike could be concealed especially if it was fed back into helping the process along. And if this is a matter-energy exchange, then the process could be... endless." Bruce shook his head.

He shook Erik's hand and nodded. He had no callouses, but hands that felt like he should have them.

"Which it seems to be, I'm told this has been going on for months, with no timeline to stop." Which wasn't something he was too happy about. He did want to go home...

But this wasn't terrible. Yes. Better than the ruin of Genosha.

"I'm fairly new, but I've been studying this dimension, the history, this ship. It's interesting, really."

Bruce sighed. "That's not good news. If it's stable, the whole thing might not be stoppable without an extreme expenditure of energy and force." Bruce's mind was calculating, but there were variables he was missing and he shook his head.

"I can imagine. Humanity, and others, actually working together and getting off their butts to go out and explore..." Bruce grinned a little. "Not something I expected, with how life was back home, but nice to see."

She shows no sign of recognition of the Games, no more than she had of him, and that makes him deeply uneasy, more deeply so than anything else so far. Everyone in Panem knows him, everyone knows the Games. The Games are mandatory viewing, and his face has been all over the screens this year. He's popular, he's talented, he's a darling of the Capitol. The cameras love him. Even without seeing much of the footage, he knows a lot of it has been of him, just like a lot of it has been of Katniss and Peeta, of Cashmere and Gloss, of Johanna. They're star attractions of this year's entertainment.

What she goes on to say, though, makes even less sense.

Except it's also sickeningly familiar. He looks back from the window (or screen, he's still not sold on that as a genuine view into space) to her.

He's good at words, good at people, at finding the gaps in what they say and leveraging them. Now, though, he goes for the direct approach.

"And what about Q?" he asks, his smile cold.

He's been taken and transported before, many, many times. In his experience, it doesn't happen because people wish him no harm.

There's nothing of threat in the way Henry moves, no trap lurking in the handshake. Nothing but apparent polite friendliness, and that's strange in itself. Everyone who meets him wants something from him: his favor, his smile, his help, his fame.

And the kids he meets? They want his example as a victor or his help as a mentor.

He hasn't had a frank, straightforward greeting like that in a long time. He's trying to read anything hidden in it, but if it's there, he can't find it.

Finnick's chin lifts.

"None of this makes sense."

His tone is accusatory, but only a little; Henry may have no blame for that. Or he may have much blame for it.

"As I said, it seems he views bringing all of us here from our own places and times as a sort of practical joke." Her lips thin, an expression of displeasure and one of the handful that exactly corresponds to the same expression on a human. "So far he's done nothing that has resulted in any permanent harm, but I do not trust that that will continue to be the case."

She takes a couple steps back, only to pick up her tea from where she'd left it and bring it with her, sitting down at a table within conversation range. He's welcome to sit with her — although, studying him, she wouldn't be surprised if he chose not to.

"Q is from a race of seemingly god-like beings. I fear there's little we can do to resist him — for the time being."

It's fairly obvious that doesn't sit well with her. Irian cannot complain about the treatment she's been afforded on board Enterprise — they have been more courteous with her than she anticipated, as someone who is, in this timeline, technically an enemy national. But she's also too conscious of the fact that they're stuck in a cage, even if it is a cage with decent food and comfortable quarters.

"There is a being - Q - controlling it. Those who know him, at least I believe 'him' applies, standard gendered nouns on Earth don't always translate to other beings-" He made a small motion, waving it off. Bruce understood, or so he hoped. "So unless he or some other of his kind stop him..." He's not pleased about this and not convinced there was nothing to be done, but for now, this was the stance he was taking.

"And with peace Earthwide, including supposedly total disarmament." He didn't believe it - but it was interesting to see it being believed. "I would never have believed the idea to even be possible."

Bruce squinted. "One being? Huhn. Impressive, if a bit intimidating." He spoke as he plugged information into a smart phone looking object, then nodded.

"Theoretically an energy field of the right frequency and power level could stop him, but whether or not we could find the frequency or generate the level of power needed is another question." Bruce's device was already working, but again, too few variables. "Does he show up very often?"

Bruce listened, then nodded. "Do you think they'll take us to Earth?"

The squint is met with a chuckle. "Yes it is. Interesting too. A entire people like. It's extraordinary." It made him wonder of his own creation, Erik the Red as he'd once been called. What he had found.

"A great deal of unknowns - and also unknown what it would do to this ship, something not to take lightly, given it supplies the life support systems." Not that he couldn't survive it. "I've not seen him. I couldn't tell you what he looks like."

Magneto shook he head. "No. I don't. We're fairly far to begin with. And it seems the crew is trying to maintain their mission."

She straightens, automatically, and suddenly, she's an officer of the High Guard, every bit as much as she's ever been. And Dylan is, too, in the way he stands, although not in the smile he gives her.

The smile is far too fond to be just that, but then again, he's always been close with his crew.

(Of course, Andromeda is special. He's been saying that to people ever since he got here.)

"It's good to see you, Rommie," he says, dropping the formality of the full name.

His treacherous voice catches, just a little, on the good.
