Test Drive #7 - Ten Forward and Captain's Yacht

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprise's off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...

Option 02. The Captain's Yacht: Oooh, you sneaky stowaway! You've found yourself in a very exclusive part of the ship: Captain Picard's personal craft, used for short jaunts when a shuttle just won't do. (One must retain some decorum, after all.) It may not be as large as the Enterprise itself, but there are sure to be some surprises aboard once people start snooping.

[OOC: The Captain's Yacht is located at the very base of the Enterprise's saucer portion, so if you put someone in there you can also play them trying to get back to somewhere they know!]

They're not in Panem. She has yet to really find anything that's remotely familiar within this bar or the strangers she's encountered so far. And maybe that's why, for one of the few times since she first met him, she actually smiles when she notices Haymitch at a bar, surrounded by the empty glasses. But it's a smile that only lasts for a handful of seconds before it's replaced by a scowl.

Some things don't change. Haymitch and his alcohol. Even if now is not the time to be drinking.

She stands up suddenly from her seat in the corner and rushes over, ready to knock his latest glass out of his hand. Her brows knit together in annoyance and she glowers at him. "Are you stupid?"

Drinking? When they're trapped who knows where?

Now there's a voice he's actually glad to hear. He sets the last glass down and turns to look at the owner of it, giving her something of a smile. "No need to worry that pretty little head of yours. I'm still unfortunately sober."

Which is the entire problem with this damned bar.

"It should please you to know that the liquor here is useless for getting someone drunk it seems. Have you been here long?" Because he hadn't seen her when he'd previously looked the room over, but then it's possible she had hidden herself or hadn't been in the room at the time. Perhaps now that Katniss was here with him, the two of them could figure out what the hell was going on.

"Is Peeta here too?" Because if he was, well, then that was one less worry to weigh on him while they dealt with this mystery.

Her quiver and bag are slung over one shoulder, her bow gripped tightly in the other hand. She stands straight and meets his smile with another disgusted scowl. Is she supposed to believe that excuse? Haymitch drinks. Slowly, that's something she's beginning to understand. Waking up each night from painful and terrifying dreams, finding herself trapped in a lost day come morning. It's how he copes. And maybe, she's not as harsh on him as she once might have been.

If only by a small, small bit.

But she doesn't trust him to be honest about something like his alcohol. Not when he failed to keep his promise during the Quarter Quell. If it suits his own agenda, nothing else matters much to Haymitch. She's learned.

She's about to take his current glass away as soon as it's placed back on the bar, ignoring most everything else he has to say. That is, until he says the magic word.

Peeta.

Her world stops. Her heart skips a beat and she turns away from Haymitch to look frantically around the bar. The thought hadn't occurred to her. If he's here, then...

"No," she answers, shaking her head and still looking a bit panicked at the thought. "No, I haven't seen him."
