Test Drive #7 - Ten Forward and Captain's Yacht

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprise's off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...





Option 02. The Captain's Yacht: Oooh, you sneaky stowaway! You've found yourself in a very exclusive part of the ship: Captain Picard's personal craft, used for short jaunts when a shuttle just won't do. (One must retain some decorum, after all.) It may not be as large as the Enterprise itself, but there are sure to be some surprises aboard once people start snooping.


[OOC: The Captain's Yacht is located at the very base of the Enterprise's saucer portion, so if you put someone in there you can also play them trying to get back to somewhere they know!]

Prim turned to face her, confused by a voice that didn't belong in her sister's house, didn't belong in District 12. She looked to the other girl and her confusion deepened, because at first she was trying to figure out how she got there, where in the world they were because she now realized this wasn't Katniss' house, and then... She saw the gun. The only people allowed to carry guns...were peacekeepers. Eyes locked on that gun, Prim screamed in terror.

Kate startles, but it's not hard to tell where the child's eyes are pointed. She holds her hands up to show her she means no harm.

"S'all right, sweetheart."

Her naturally soft voice isn't suited for cutting through a scream quite so loud, but she makes it carry. She doesn't try to move closer, not until the child calms down.

"I ain't gonna hurt you, I promise. You're safe. I know it looks awful strange, but nobody here wants t'do you any harm."

She scrambled back, clinging to her animals, eyes wide, tears spilling. "Why did you bring me here? Where's my mother?" The people she wants to ask about most, thinks are the most likely to be in danger - Katniss, Gale - she didn't dare. She couldn't get them in more trouble. But no one had reason to hurt or hate her mom, right?

Except her mom worked to undo the hard work of the peacekeepers, to heal the wounded. She swallowed hard, shaking. She had helped. Was the capitol ready to kill them all?

Kate knows she has precious few moments to give the child an answer that will help, rather than hurt. As much as she wants to move close, to comfort her, she stays her emotions.

"I didn't, sweetheart. I was brought here without my knowin', just like you."

Even with emotions running high, her voice remains ever soft and gentle.

"I don't know where your mama is, an' I'm awful sorry 'bout that. But I do know where y'are, and who brought you here, an' if you'll let me I'll tell you everythin' I know. You may not believe me, but I ain't got no cause to lie t'you. As far as I see it, you an' I are in the same boat, and I've got every reason t'help you."

"You have a weapon," she said simply, finally. "Only peacekeepers are allowed to be armed. Even old Crey would gut you for having a weapon...unless you were one of them," she said softly, trembling. "And everyone knows...." she cut herself off, for the words she was about to say in her fear would have signed her death warrent for sure...
