Test Drive #7 - Ten Forward and Captain's Yacht

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprise's off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...





Option 02. The Captain's Yacht: Oooh, you sneaky stowaway! You've found yourself in a very exclusive part of the ship: Captain Picard's personal craft, used for short jaunts when a shuttle just won't do. (One must retain some decorum, after all.) It may not be as large as the Enterprise itself, but there are sure to be some surprises aboard once people start snooping.


[OOC: The Captain's Yacht is located at the very base of the Enterprise's saucer portion, so if you put someone in there you can also play them trying to get back to somewhere they know!]

He shrugged. "Either way, I guess. But you were just through an ordeal, you hungry or anything, this place smells like food, and there are all these tables. Or of you want, we can discuss something else, and table the food topic..."

Bruce nodded. "Now that you mention it, I am hungry. I wonder if they even take money from my world here..." He spotted someone working a machine, and food appearing, and his eyes widened. "Holy moley. They've mastered matter-energy transformation..." He stared, then his stomach grumbled, and he chuckled. "I think we can use one of those things. " He pointed.

"Following you," he said. "This all looks like something weird from one of Luna's drawings."

Bruce led the way to the machine and examined it, then pointed his new scanner at it, hmmed, and grinned. "Aha!" With careful hands, he punched up a menu, then selected several items, punched in a code that his scanner told him, and then nodded with satisfaction as a platter of several burgers, a baked potato with all the fixings, and two cups of water appeared.

"What would you like?"

HE blinked at it, startled. "Okay, wow, that was cool. I guess... Steak and some fi... oh..." he sagged a bit, suddenly seeming sad and a bit pensive. "I guess just... steak and something to drink," he said with a shrug.

Bruce punched in the order and watched as it materialized. "Fascinating." he grinned and led the way to a nearby table, then dug in. He would definitely have to find out how that worked. He already had ideas...

He followed him, lost in thought. Sure, he didn't always buy a fish dish when he was on his own, but this guy reminded him of Dominic in some ways, so he had almost ordered a fish for Spark. He missed his family, though he was glad he had been here to help. HE sat at the same table with him and started in on his food, lost in thought.

After eating some, Bruce spoke up. "So, what was your world like? Magic, science, both?" Now that he was in another universe, he wanted to learn everything.

"Both, more magic though, I think. But that could just be my family, biasing me. My mother runs the most successful magical school in the kingdom, but there is as much scientific theory and method to the magic as there is magical power. My brother says there are some planes where everything is all science, like the Elemecca, but I can't picture it."

He sipped his water and thought. "But things might be different in other kingdoms. Luna and Dominic took a Honeymoon trip to visit other lands, but for some reason neither Spark nor I were invited."

"Hmmm. Sounds like an interesting place." Bruce spoke around munching on food, and sipping his water. He was enjoying this.

"What I have seen is that, at fundamentals, they are the same."

He shrugged. "I'm kind of stupid, but I can do magic, so they can't be that closely linked." Yes, he actually thought he was something of an idiot.

"I don't think you're stupid." He chuckled. "A wise man once said that any sufficiently advanced science was essentially magic, and that the vice versa was the same." Bruce nodded.

He gave him an odd look. "You think my fire magic means I'm bright?" he asked.

Bruce facepalmed. "No. I think you have reacted well, with thoughtfulness, understanding, and quick analysis of the situation. That is what makes me think you're smart."

[gregorydeegan]

He gave him an odd look. Usually only his family said things like that... and Rachel. But they were his family... and Rachel. He wasn't sure how to respond when someone who wasn't biased said something like that. "Thanks," he mumbled, pushing his food around with a fork, flushing.

"You're welcome." And he went back to eating. He was hoping to soon find someone from the ship who had information he could use. He was not used to prolonged social contact, and was growing... irritable.

"So.... what's next, after this?"

[doctorbrucebanner]

"Find a crewmember, get information, probably see a doctor, and hopefully get quarters until this can all get straightened out." Bruce rattled off what he figured was the most likely scenario.

[gregorydeegan]

"You don't have any magic or science to bring us back home?" he asked softly. "You know, like a boomerang spell? Or maybe just help spelling boomerang? It's a difficult word. I keep trying to figure it out, but keep coming back to confusion." Weak, he knew, but he was kind of desperate.

"I'm sorry, but multiversal teleportation is beyond me." He chuckled. "Boomerang is spelled b-o-o-m-e-r-a-n-g.:

"Well, at least your answer was a blast," he said with his all to familiar "Yep, I totally just said that" grin. (I actually named the icon that...)
