Test Drive #7 - Ten Forward and Captain's Yacht

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprise's off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...





Option 02. The Captain's Yacht: Oooh, you sneaky stowaway! You've found yourself in a very exclusive part of the ship: Captain Picard's personal craft, used for short jaunts when a shuttle just won't do. (One must retain some decorum, after all.) It may not be as large as the Enterprise itself, but there are sure to be some surprises aboard once people start snooping.


[OOC: The Captain's Yacht is located at the very base of the Enterprise's saucer portion, so if you put someone in there you can also play them trying to get back to somewhere they know!]

One thing Theo's father instilled in him is the necessity of knowing the strengths and weaknesses of any possible enemy, or even any possible ally. Well, really, just everyone. While he doesn't think that the two of them would become his enemies, old habits die hard. Besides, he might meet someone from their world who would be less incline to be friendly conversationalists. And this way he'd be more prepared than if he hadn't asked all these questions.

Paranoid?

Yes.

But, if she asks him to stop, he will. Trying to get answers out of an unwilling subject is harder than a willing one.

"That makes sense," he says with an absent nod. "People can learn to be necromancers in my world, but they won't ever be as strong as a blood born necromancer."

She nodded. "It is the same for Priestesses, though I know not the details, Prince."

"Born a priestess, that's an interesting concept," he muses. "And call me Theo. Every time you say Prince I keep on thinking you're talking to Kale or Trever."

"By protocol, acquaintances address each other by titles." She took another bite of food. "I would not presume to call you without a title at this point, Prince. As you are not Blood, I could call you Warlord instead, if you prefer."

With a twitch of a smile on his face, Theo says, "Adrienne would probably suggest boytoy. Though I imagine 'divine one' is the most appropriate. That's what my cultists call me."

"And I am not one such, nor do I know the word divine." She was not commenting on the other without a weapon in hand.

Theo's wife has a terrible sense of humor in regards to their relationship at times. Or at least who wears the pants in the relationship.

"Divine refers to a god or demi-god. It's also considered to be the appropriate way to address one... at least if you want to be polite without having to go through all the titles."

(I am finding this terribly amusing) "If divine is the proper title, then," she said, reluctant to use a title she so ill understood, and having a feeling it was more a portent than she realized.

Sensing her reluctance, Theo said, "If it makes you feel more comfortable, you can use Warlord. Titles aren't used in day to day speech in my world. So, while Divine One is proper, I don't mind not being called it. And, then, what would be the proper address for the two of you?"

"Thank you, Warlord," she said with a nod. "I would be called Lady, as I am a Blood Female, he would be called Prince, as he is a Warlord Prince."

"The title is as much a warning as a courtesy," Theiorn said with a half grin.

"Oh, yes. I know that sort of thing." He grins a bit back. He likes the two of them.

There really aren't any titles like that any more beyond a few family names that scare the shit out of people. Theo's is one of them.

Theiorn grinned at him as well, and looked to Aiylisha. "You know, if he were first circle..."

She glared at Theiorn. "I am certain the Warlord has better things to do with his time," she snapped.


"Then maybe I wouldn't have to be with you, every single moment."

"Then don't be," she snapped.

"It is my right to serve," he replied smoothly.

"And my right to prefer you didn't," she said simply.

Theo watches the back and forth curiously and then asks Theiorn, "Why do you need to follow her around like a shadow?"

"She has none of her court here to protect her. Thus, I have invoked my rights under Protocol to protect her until such a time as she has a full first circle here. Then she may choose to dismiss me from her service, if she wishes."

She looked decidedly grumpy as she ate.

"Aaah... that sort of thing," Theo says. He's doesn't know the the exact details of these sort of things, but he's got the basic feeling of what's going on. "She doesn't seem like a fragile glass doll to me. But, I suppose I really shouldn't say anything because I don't know your protocol."

"Thank you!" she said sharply.

"Males protect," he said simply, then tried to contact him mentally, spear to spear. *Can you hear me this way, Warlord?* he asked without voice or sound.

Theo starts at the contact. For the briefest of moments there's a flush of primal power that shows a great deal of anger and annoyance at being surprised by a peon like Theiorn which lays on top of Theo's normal -human- mind. It's shut down and shoved away quickly.

*Yes, I can. But please don't do that again."

Theiorn frowned.

She looked between them. "What?" She could tell something was wrong. Didn't have to be a Black Widow for that.

And Theo raises his eyebrows at the man. He initiated contact. While Theo is apologetic about the pissed off divinity, Aiylisha is Theiorn's problem.

*I imagine you should speak quickly otherwise she'll be very pissed,* he does say mentally.

"I tried to speak with him, spear to spear, and he was upset by that," Theiorn said. "I am unsure why."

"Oh. is that all?" she shrugged and went back to her food.

Theiorn glanced at Theo.

"He startled me. That sort of thing is generally not done on my world as not everyone can do it," Theo said. "At least, they don't do it without warning."

"In our world is is as common as speaking out loud, among those who can," Theiorn said. "And considered more polite than whispering behind hands when you wish to have a private conversation without the others who are in the room with you. Or to speak to someone just outside easy voice reach."

"I imagine if there were more people who could do that the rules of polite society might be different."

They looked at each other oddly, then at him.

"Warlord," she said slowly, "all the Blood can communicate telepathically."

"Sorry. I meant where I'm from," Theo elaborates.
