TEST DRIVE #10 - Cetacean Pool and Ten Forward

#1

Option 001. Cetacean Pool/Aquatics Lab: Of all the places in the world, you open your eyes and you find yourself in a medium-sized aquatics laboratory, filled with various living specimens along with various science officers bustling about trying to maintain order. There's much to explore here (and hopefully, in the crew's opinion, not break), but the main attraction is the large pool at the far end of the lab; enormous but tanklike in appearance, it contains several dolphins happily swimming about, seemingly without a care in the world.

Option 002. Aboard the Enterprise, Ten Forward: You have no idea what just happened. One minute you were home, and now you're on a spaceship, in the middle of a crowded room. It looks like a bar. There are people eating and drinking, some in uniform, others not. Some are clearly aliens.

You've managed to land in Ten Forward a long bar with barstools and a bartender, tables sprinkled throughout, and the far wall is nothing but windows out to space. It looks like a nice lounge, low conversation making the room hum.

Better ask some questions and find out where you are, or just tap the closest person on the shoulder and try to make friends. The bar is open.

He nodded at the question. Just don't ask him what space is exactly beyond the literal space between the planets that are contained in this rather large world. He doesn't really know much about it beyond that. Not his fault that he's not read any science-fiction novels.

"Yes. So I've been told. The view out the window is rather unnerving isn't it." The endless dark and lack of a horizon is part of why he doesn't like to look out of the windows here.

"That's...an understatement." Archie glanced out the window again and shuddered. No wonder Pongo had been ill-at-ease.

Speaking of the Dalmatian, Pongo bumped his head against Gold's leg before looking expectantly up at him.

Gold turned his attention down and smiled again at the Dalmatian, his hand dipping into his pant's pocket. "I might have something for you, yes. Let's see." He quietly conjured a dog treat into the hidden hand.

"Yes. Here we are." He pulled the treat out of his pocket and held it out toward Pongo.

"Would you like to see more of the ship?" He asked Archie, turning his attention back toward the other man.

Pongo happily gobbled up the treat, tail wagging as Archie gave an affectionate shake of his head. Really, that dog knew how to work people over to get as many treats as he wanted.

He glanced around the bar they were in, trying to avoid looking out the windows. "Might be a good idea. How big is this ship?"
magicsprice: ([.]We can drive it home)

[personal profile] magicsprice 2015-03-25 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Quite big. Henry told me it has forty-two decks. We're restricted from some of them, the ones dealing with the running of the ship I suspect." He considers where to start things off before speaking again.

"I can show you the guest quarters, and then the rather interesting thing known as the Holodeck."

"A good assumption," Archie said, wondering just how big "forty-two decks" actually was. He then looked at Gold in surprise. "Henry's here?"

In response to the last part, he nodded, glancing down at his unfinished drink and looking for a waitress. "I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with the rest of this..."

It wasn't as if he'd ordered a drink from the bar, after all.

"Yes, he is. Henry's the one who helped me with my questions about this place." He replied with a small smile. He was glad he had the boy here. He didn't like the thought of being here with just Emma and Hook, neither of whom seemed that fond of him thanks to the apparent actions of his counterpart.

"I'm sure you can leave it there and the tender of the bar will dispose of it if you don't want it anymore. Though I should warn you, the liquor you get from the bar...isn't exactly actual liquor, though it does taste the same. It just lacks the kick it's supposed to have."

"Non-alcoholic liquor?" Archie asked, a little baffled by the idea.
magicsprice: ([.] and foolish love)

[personal profile] magicsprice 2015-03-30 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
He shrugged at the question. "Don't ask me how it's done. I don't know." Gold's just as baffled at the idea as Archie was to be honest.

"...Sort of defeats the purpose of having it," Archie noted somewhat dryly.

"Exactly my thought." Gold replied, a touch of 'finally, someone understands' coloring his words.

"Let's go tend to that tour shall we?" He asked, gesturing toward the door that led to the hall beyond.

Archie picked up his glass. "Might as well finish this off since I have a feeling I'm going to need a stiff drink by the end of this."

Particularly since they were in space.
