TEST DRIVE #10 - Cetacean Pool and Ten Forward

#1

Option 001. Cetacean Pool/Aquatics Lab: Of all the places in the world, you open your eyes and you find yourself in a medium-sized aquatics laboratory, filled with various living specimens along with various science officers bustling about trying to maintain order. There's much to explore here (and hopefully, in the crew's opinion, not break), but the main attraction is the large pool at the far end of the lab; enormous but tanklike in appearance, it contains several dolphins happily swimming about, seemingly without a care in the world.

Option 002. Aboard the Enterprise, Ten Forward: You have no idea what just happened. One minute you were home, and now you're on a spaceship, in the middle of a crowded room. It looks like a bar. There are people eating and drinking, some in uniform, others not. Some are clearly aliens.

You've managed to land in Ten Forward a long bar with barstools and a bartender, tables sprinkled throughout, and the far wall is nothing but windows out to space. It looks like a nice lounge, low conversation making the room hum.

Better ask some questions and find out where you are, or just tap the closest person on the shoulder and try to make friends. The bar is open.

"Whoa."

Only a moment ago Ellie had be fighting for her life and now she was standing before a sphere of water with something swimming inside of it. Ellie hadn't ever seen a dolphin before and so the moment she heard the strange splashing she went to investigate. This place wasn't like her home but she still kept her backpack slung across her shoulder and a blade at her side. Her gun was packed in her backpack after being convinced that she wouldn't need it but she still didn't want to let it off her person.

Her palms pressed against the cold glass as she watched the dolphins dance through the crystal blue water. She was giddy watching them with a wide smile as they swam by.

"Shit! What are these things?"

Ellie had been standing with Joel about to end their long journey when she felt the world around her plunge into darkness. For a moment she thought that she might have turned, that the infection had finally taken her but of course she couldn't be so lucky. She shook her head looking at the unfamiliar scene around her. The sight of people made her panic and back against the wall with her gun out, ready to be fired.

"Fuck!" The word was whispered from her lips as her eyes trained on those around her.

She already knew there were to many people here to get out alive but she had always been a fighter. She didn't notice the stars outside the window or the state of dress of those around her. It was fight or flight for the young girl and she already had felt on edge.

Myka was looking at the dolphins when Ellie suddenly appeared, speaking just as Myka took a sip of coffee. She choked a bit, coughing at the girls language. She didn't look that old, and it was so unexpected.

"They're a mammal called dolphins."

Ellie turned and looked at the woman next to her. "Dolphins, huh." She looked as if she was thinking about something before turning back towards the sphere of water.

"It's pretty cool." Nothing could stifle her excitement and now more than even she wished she knew how to swim. "I've never seen a Dolphin before." Ellie continued to face the tank and it wasn't clear if she was talking to the Myka or not.
