ten_fwd_ooc | TEST DRIVE #10 - Cetacean Pool and Ten Forward

Option 001. Cetacean Pool/Aquatics Lab: Of all the places in the world, you open your eyes and you find yourself in a medium-sized aquatics laboratory, filled with various living specimens along with various science officers bustling about trying to maintain order. There's much to explore here (and hopefully, in the crew's opinion, not break), but the main attraction is the large pool at the far end of the lab; enormous but tanklike in appearance, it contains several dolphins happily swimming about, seemingly without a care in the world.

Option 002. Aboard the Enterprise, Ten Forward: You have no idea what just happened. One minute you were home, and now you're on a spaceship, in the middle of a crowded room. It looks like a bar. There are people eating and drinking, some in uniform, others not. Some are clearly aliens.

You've managed to land in Ten Forward a long bar with barstools and a bartender, tables sprinkled throughout, and the far wall is nothing but windows out to space. It looks like a nice lounge, low conversation making the room hum.

Better ask some questions and find out where you are, or just tap the closest person on the shoulder and try to make friends. The bar is open.

"And now, Killian?" he asked softly.

"Now I have someone. And you." He won't forget about Liam.

"Does she know... all of what you are telling me?" Presuming it's a she, that is. Had he said it was a she already? Liam could not quite recall.

"She knows how I feel about her." For the most part. He hasn't outright stated a thing or two, but he knows that she knows them anyway.

"And the rest, my brother?" he asked softly.

"Of what I've just told you? Aye, she knows that. Save for a few details. She knows there was a woman who was killed, and who did it. She does not know that he was her husband."

He nodded. "I am glad you have her in your life, then," he said softly, honestly glad for his brother.

"As am I. It took a lot of time and work to get to this point."

He nodded. "Tell me about her, Brother?"

"She's the savior. She even saved me." It's not much, but it's the most important.

"The... savior?" he asked, confused.

"There was a curse. She's the one who broke it."

"My brother, you are telling a tale in pieces, trying to fill my sail with scraps of breezes when we need gusts."

"The man I told you about, the one who killed the first woman I loved, he had a son. He chose magic over his son and was separated from the boy. He created a curse to find his son again, but he needed it to be broken for that to work. Emma is the one who broke it."

"So... she is a savior... because she reunited a villain with his son?" Liam asked, quite confused as to how that worked.

He sees Gold as a villain already, that's a start. "No. The curse, it sent people to the land without magic. Those who were affected forgot who they really were. They all had false identities and were trapped in a place where time didn't move. She broke the curse and they all remembered who they were."

"I am confused, brother, what does that have to do with the man and his son? And if no one remembered who they were, and time did not move, how did she know to break the curse?"

Apparently he used to be better at telling stories. He should work on that. "His son ended up in the land without magic. In order for him to find his son, he had to get to the land without magic. He needed the curse for that. Then he needed it to be broken so that he could restore magic and use it to help him find his son.

Emma knew about the curse because her son read about it in a storybook and tracked her down and told her about it."

"This sounds like quite the tall tale, Killian. Surely there are simpler ways to cross the realms." A Pegasus sail, for one...

"Aye, there are beans which create portals, but they're rare. For some reason it had to be this curse."

It could have something to do with the fact that he'd failed to get the bean he wanted when he didn't honor the terms of the deal they offered him.

"And now... we are all here. Another curse, my brother?"

"Who breaks this one, and what happens when it is broken?"

"This isn't a curse. This is one of the crew members expressing his affection for the captain."

Or at least that was how it had been explained to him.

"Once again, I fear that I fail to follow, my brother."

"There's a man who, and I admit I have not met him, brings people here at his whim. Apparently out of a desire to communicate some sort of message to the captain."

"And he cannot just speak with the Captain?" He couldn't begin to think of how furious he would be with a midshipman who decided to bring random stowaways aboard...
