End of March Plots!
It's the Spring Equinox for many of us in the northern hemisphere, and you didn't think we'd let March go out like a plotless little lamb, did you? ;)
ETA: An IC kick-off post is now live in the main comm!
Happy Father's Alien Abduction Day!

Today, March 20th, is International Alien Abduction Day, and with Father's Day having just passed (in parts of Europe and South America, don't worry America you still have 3 months to pick out the perfect tie for your pappy), Q has decided to show how much of a loving and kindly individual he really isand to get people to stop grumbling about how they miss their families.
For one week starting today and ending next Sunday, characters will have the chance if they so choose to talk to their fathers, or father-like figures. This can either be done using the comms system (pictured above), rather like a Facetime or Skype (or universe equivalent feature) conversation, no matter where or when the father exists. Why? Maybe there's some unresolved business between your character and their father. Maybe your character just wants to talk to them one last time...
For characters whose fathers are dead or don't exist in a time period with such technology, the holodecks will create a simulation of their father to interact with. (This will be a real conversation and not just a ghostly apparition, much like in the Superman franchise when Kal-El and Kara are allowed to talk to their deceased parents via hologram).
If your character has absolutely no desire to speak with their father, they may be treated to another glimpse into Father's Day... of the future... by speaking to what could be your character's future child. Just call Q the Ghost of Christmas Future. Possible future children will likewise appear to interact with your character via the holodeck simulations.
When this is done, characters who decide to give Q a Father's Day gift in return will be granted one wish, as long as it's a reasonable wish. So that means no wishing to return home, having someone else show up on the ship, deadly or rule-breaky items. This post is where your characters can make their Father/Aliens's Day wishes, and if Q deigns to grant their wish it will come true next Sunday, March 27th.
Spring Equinox, Planetside!

Spring is in thevacuum? air! Flowers are blooming, birds are calling, all those pesky pheromones are in the air - but not all is hunky-dory for the Federation. Tonight, the Enterprise will receive a call for assistance from a Federation colony whose crops are failing, and who need the help of the ship's complement to recover before deadly consequences ensue. Luckily, the Enterprise just stopped at Pacifica on that botany mission, and happens to be carrying many seedlings, seeds, and helpful equipment the doomed settlement desperately needs. Not to mention, most importantly of all, people with skills and interests in planting.
The timeline will look something like this - the Enterprise will make landfall tonight, and the first characters who wish to help will be beamed ashore in the morning. With this plot, characters will be helping out with manual labor - tilling soil, maybe pulling weeds, et cetera. Anyone who decides to do so will be given an equinox-themed gift at the end of the plot - like a plant they helped grow, a basket of chocolate eggs, et cetera. What your characters end up with is up to you - so long as it's Spring-themed!
All volunteers who choose to spend the week helping in whatever capacity they can will receive their gift at the end of the week, before the Enterprise shoves off to commence with April's plots. Whatever healthy plants are left will be brought to a nearby space station to supplement their greenhouses, and while there the Enterprise may be picking up a few more things...

Two important notes: 1) since it is a Father's Day phone call, your characters will only be able to speak with their fathers. 2) once the comm/holodeck simulation ends, your character will not be able to bring it back up again. Q is bending the rules of space and time just for this one week.

WHAT: Q enabling daddy issues!
WHERE: The entire ship, including personal quarters and holodecks (or anywhere comm systems can be accessed)

QUESTIONS
About that facetime/phonecall...
Can the guy on the other end hang up on this phonecall? And if he does is there a way to reconnect?
Re: About that facetime/phonecall...
That being the case, we say it'd be hilarious if someone tried to disconnect and couldn't because of Q interference. If they were particularly stubborn about it, they may even get an invisible thump to the back of the head by the alien himself.

Re: multiple questions about how Father's Day will be done
There will be the standard kick-off post that ICly explains what is happening, and the conversations themselves are up to the players to log.
The fathers not being on the ship is the draw of the plot! This is your character's chance to have a conversation with someone they may be afraid they'll never see again. As such both sides of the conversation can be written by you or threaded out with a willing party whether or not that character is in the game - this is just for personal logs, and only for the duration of the plot. :)

Re: Can we use journals that are not members of the comm for Father's Day plots?
How? The character who will be seeing their father creates a Personal Log setting up the phone call/holodeck simulation. The account belonging to that character's father may tag in to this log. From there the conversation may be threaded out like any other conversation.
This is just for the Father's Day plot logs, obviously the non-member character can't tag around posts in the main comm or stay once the plot has ended.

Re: Can the character talk to their future child[ren]?
So characters may see any possible future offspring, whether they're canon or a "turned left when I should have turned right" alternate future.
Re: QUESTIONS
joined at the hiprooming together, would it be allowable for them to participate in each other's calls? Like, would Finnick be able to be there to say hi to his father in law while Annie is talking to him, and if Annie happened to be with her husband when he went to the holodeck would she be there when he was talking to a simulation of his father?Just mulling over ideas <_<

Re: Can other characters join my character's conversation?
Re: QUESTIONS
Re: Who remembers the conversations after the event?
That having been said, if the character is deceased, from a different point in the timeline, or an Alternate Universe, they may not remember the conversation. But given, holodeck sims aside, that Q is connecting the PCs to the actual person through time and space, that conversation is really happening and therefore can be added to those characters' game canon if desired.
Questions!
Kaylin got a mirror from home from Q, and in her world, mirrors are how they communicate over distances. Would Q actually let her "call" come through on the mirror instead of a more trek like place? Since it's actually her mirror where he usually calls to wake her up?
(where waking her up occurs hours after she is due in and involves swearing, snarling and threats, of course.)
ALSO: give what to Q how? I know Ailyshia will have a gift for him, though it is one that might kill some mortals. (she will NOT be pleased at having seen her father)
Re: Can calls be placed on other devices? What sort of gifts can we give?
Regarding gifts for Q, at the end of the week there will be a post where gifts can be left and Q's presents in return will be sent. What your character leaves for Q is entirely up to you. It can be something meaningful to your character, something your character genuinely thinks he'd like, socks, a tie... let your imagination be your guide, so long as you're prepared for him to grouse if the gift isn't up to his standards. ;) Bear in mind that these gifts can't break the in-game rules!

Re: Is this happening party post style?
Characters who have in-canon fathers are mostly arranging with other players of those characters, but if a mod NPC is desired one can be provided for Derek's conversation!
