Hello from your friendly neighbourhood Klingon!
Chang has been quiet on the Enterprise, meeting people, doing some trolling, but otherwise a perfect house guest.
Or so it seems. Actually, Chang has been laying low for one specific reason. Technically, he may have committed treason on Qo'nos. And by technically, I do mean 'actually'. He's participated in a murder plot against the Chancellor, using Federation contacts to defeat the peace initiative.
Klingons are relatively cool with murder, but you got to follow the rules for these things. Going behind his back and not stabbing him with a bat'leth is just not on.
Chang isn't really hiding, though. He knows that the Klingon Empire will find him easily enough: what's happening on the Enterprise is unlikely to have escaped notice entirely. But he wants them to make the first move.
And they have. They've set their ships on an intercept course and they're going to get him.
What does this mean for the rest of you?
Well, the Klingons are a little ticked at the Federation 'harbouring' said traitor, so they're not about to be polite about fetching him. The Enterprise is going to be a little roughed up, not enough to cause a lot of casualties but enough to make their point and bring down the shields.
Then they're going to invade the Enterprise and go after him. So you can either opt in by:
- Getting in their way. If you're part of the new security detail or just plain happen into bump into these guys, you can assume they're not going to be really patient about your interference, intentional or not. And impatient Klingons lead with their fists. It's entirely up to you how this interaction is going to lead out. Klingons are armed with both blasters and bat'leths and have trained all their lives in them. They're unlikely to target children, but who knows what happens in the heat of battle?
- Getting them shields up! The Enterprise are none too keen to leaving their shields down while Klingons run riot. Helping the Engineering crew is going to be a top priority.
or opt out:
- Stay out of their way. The Klingons are not there to go on a rampage, they have a specific target. And although they're none too picky about how to get to said target, they're not inclined to bother with you if you're not in the way. The only things you have to worry about is being shaken or annoying any security guards who are a bit put out by your wandering the halls during a red alert. Chang lives on the same deck as the Brig, that is DECK 33, so all your character has to do is not be there.
How will this be resolved?
Well, believe it or not, Chang is more or less ready. You see he has something of an ace in the hole. Not just the fact that he knows the Federation will defend him but also that he has The Sword of Kahless.
For those who are unfamiliar with Kahless, he's a kind of mystic figure for Klingons. He's the Surak of Qo'nos, although rather than taking the Klingons on a path to logic, he just gave them a code of conduct: the rules of honour that all Klingons are supposed to live by. He's such an important figure that in a few years the Monks of Borath (basically Klingon Vatican) make a clone of the guy and try to pass him off as the real deal and even when they failed to do so, a lot of Klingons worshipped him anyway.
The Sword is the first bat'leth that was ever made by Kahless and was used to win the Empire for him. It's as revered as the man himself and Chang wielding it in battle will strike no small amount of awe in his enemies. They'll be demoralised by the fact that he's able to beat them with it and will start to wonder if he wants the Emperor position that was laid unclaimed since Kahless died. He'll order them off the Enterprise and demand an audience with the Chancellor.
When and how?
This will start on the 29th of August and be wrapped up on the 5th of September. (Saturday to Saturday.)
The first post will be a setting up, closed to the reactions of the senior staff. Then I'll post for anyone who wants to play out in the battle and engineering.
This post will be used for people to plot out their reactions. There's a sign up for those who want to encounter the Klingons and one for those who want to work to get the shields back up.
(Sorry if I've made some mistakes, ask any questions in the comments!)

All this adds up, it seems to me, to something that could be used interestingly.
