I saw this at another game and it amused me enough that I decided to steal it and post it here for the amusement of our cast.

That's fascinating, actually. How does the transformation work, if you don't mind my asking?

WELL. That's fine. ]

It's... complicated. My bones break to reshape themselves since I... fully transform into a wolf-like state. The muscles tear too but it's really not as noticeable. It's not exactly comfortable but I don't really notice any discomfort anymore.

Frankly it sounds like it should be much more than uncomfortable...and the different structures between a canid and a human--well, it doesn't really sound as if it should work at all.

Then again, I can call a shapeshifter a friend, and I've seen rather well what they can do, even if I haven't quite figured out how they manage it yet.

I try to avoid thinking about how much it does hurt. I can't exactly avoid it. Putting off the transformation is worse. I black out.

I'm guessing your friend is a bit different than me. This was.... More like an infection. I wasn't born like this. I just learned to deal with it.

Is it like in the stories, relating to the lunar cycle? I wonder how exactly that would work, out here so far from Earth--it'd be an impossible distance, if not for warp travel. Or is it just a correlation that seems to fall along those times?

Just a little. Technically he's not humanoid at all, it's just a convenient shape for dealing with us...and he was born that way, however their reproductive system works.

[He doesn't want to think about Founder sex but now he is, GAH.]

Yeah. I've noticed my mood gets really... bad around a full moon. Not to mention I sometimes run a low grade fever. I'm not really sure how my cycle will run on the ship. I just know if I put off shifting....

It's not good.

Very. They're not too fond of most other species. Odo's a notable exception to that.

[ She will LOVE the holodeck. For setting up needed hiking trips when she needs to tire herself out. ]

I guess that means you're lucky to know him.

I have a weird condition. On full moons I turn into a very large wolf-like creature. It's considered a curse.

I deal with it just fine.

A lot of stories depict us blood thirsty monsters. I'm.... not like that.

[ He pauses for a moment, because this is kind of an awkward thing to find out about somebody. Especially for a person who's never heard a werewolf story in his life. ]

If it helps, I don't care what the stories say.

[ He knows a little something about how stories grow in the telling. There are stories that call Dylan an angel of death. In general, he'd argue with that particular characterization. ]

No. But I know what stories are like.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want anyone to judge me on some of the stories that get told about me.

Besides, it's who you are that counts, not what people say.

Yeah. I never liked judging people. I'd really rather not be on the receiving end of it either.
