TEST DRIVE #5 - Low Gravity Gymnasium and Ten Forward

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprises' off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...

Option 02. Aboard the Enterprise, The Low-Gravity Gymnasium: The gym is a large room with several alcove-like sections housing the aerobics and martial arts areas, a parrises squares area, an anbo-jyutsu court, and a separate fencing room. While there is normally a zero-gravity area as well, today all of the gym is in zero-gravity conditions.

Zero-gravity can be, well, kind of weird, because it's not like a gradual loss of the pressure holding you to the floor--you may have taken the turbolifts, just expecting to take a leisurely run, or maybe work out with a treadmill to get in some cardio, but the minute you step into the gym you're floating, as is anything you might have been holding or bringing with you.

Do you freak out, start flailing and trying to swim through the air back to where you can escape? Do you make the best of it and tough it out to get your exercise in, or do you start having fun with the sudden game of weightlessness? Pick your personal scenario and have fun with all the other weightless people.

"...whoa." Alex stared up -- down? Maybe left? Who knew? -- at the strange plant... thing. Okay, no: She was not anywhere near used to being in space.

Rubbing her head where she banged it, she offered a smile. At least it introduced itself. "Hi, Groot. I'm Alex."

Oh good! The young human is uninjured. At least Groot is fairly certain that the young one is a human. He has only ever really met Peter. Peter is obviously a male given his habit of flirting with females of many others races. Groot has to admit he is unsure what a human female would look like.

This human is obviously still a child. She is no where near Peter's height.

"I am Groot." Groot bows his head slightly as if greeting her.

"Um... yeah. I got that." Groot seems nice for a... whatever he is, but also kind of slow. Maybe tree people are just like that? No, it feels kind of mean to Alex to think that. "So... Are you part of this spaceship crew?" She's seen other aliens who seem to be.

He would shake his head no but it doesn't move the same way her head would. He moves his body very carefully trying to indicate no.

Too bad Rocket isn't here. This would be so much easier.

At least she isn't frightened by him.

Huh. Well, he's not wearing the uniform so that makes sense -- would the uniform even fit him, though?

"So... Not very talkative, are you?"

"I am Groot."

It probably wouldn't. Even prisons can't really give him something that would fit him. He is just a little too big. But he is a tree so it's not a big deal.

"...right."

Well, it could be worse. He could be a mean tree alien.

She pushes off the ceiling and hovers there in front of him, tilting her head curiously.

He is only mean if the sapient life form in question either has a big price on their head or is just already an all around jerk.

He hates jerks. Rocket doesn't count. Rocket just has a bit of an attitude problem.

She finds herself drifting in a vaguely sideways direction and flails her arms to keep in place.

"So... What do you like to do around here, Groot?"
