TEST DRIVE #5 - Low Gravity Gymnasium and Ten Forward

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprises' off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...



Option 02. Aboard the Enterprise, The Low-Gravity Gymnasium: The gym is a large room with several alcove-like sections housing the aerobics and martial arts areas, a parrises squares area, an anbo-jyutsu court, and a separate fencing room. While there is normally a zero-gravity area as well, today all of the gym is in zero-gravity conditions.

Zero-gravity can be, well, kind of weird, because it's not like a gradual loss of the pressure holding you to the floor--you may have taken the turbolifts, just expecting to take a leisurely run, or maybe work out with a treadmill to get in some cardio, but the minute you step into the gym you're floating, as is anything you might have been holding or bringing with you.

Do you freak out, start flailing and trying to swim through the air back to where you can escape? Do you make the best of it and tough it out to get your exercise in, or do you start having fun with the sudden game of weightlessness? Pick your personal scenario and have fun with all the other weightless people.

Alcohol is not exactly Akito's enemy, per se, but he's gotten drunk out of his mind twice before and while it was great to forget his problems for a little while, the resulting hangovers were awful. It might have something to do with his small stature. Either way, he's not going to risk drinking anything alcoholic and sticks to water for the time being.

"I think that's probably a common reaction here," he comments. He doesn't know her, but he feels the need to commiserate anyway.

Yuna looked up at gave the boy a weak smile. "I guess so... um... Have you been here long?"

She didn't want it to sound like a weird question but it still did.

He shakes his head. "Just a few hours." Akito imagines that, since she's asking, she's probably in the same boat as him.

"Oh..." Her eyes looked back down at the floor a moment as she tried to sort through her thoughts. Why did this keep happening to her. Yuna turned her head towards the windows and let out a slow breath. "Ever been in space before?" She assumed that is where they are anyway.

[akito]

Another shake of the head. Admittedly it would be pretty cool to have been in space before, at least he gets to experience it now. "I've read a lot about it, but I've never been in space before. Have you?"

"Nope. One of my friends really loves space." Her eyes look over at the stars for a moment. "It really is amazing."

Yuna didn't know if she could get used to it but then again she has gotten used to a lot of things over the years. She just felt alone again.

"There are lots of books and movies about outer space where I'm from," he explains. "It's really neat! I was never as interested in it as some people though." For example, he had never desired to explore space. His interest was in the sky itself, not what was beyond it.

Akito takes an ice cube from his water and lets it melt on his palm, holding it out on the table in a way that lets Plume flutter out of his hood and grab a drink without attracting too much attention.

Yuna's eyes lit up at the sight of the small creature. "That's so cute. What is it?"

Any thoughts about their earlier topic left her mind completely as she watched it flutter towards the ice cube.

Both Akito and Plume are surprised she's seen, considering nobody else has so far. "Ah... Plume is a tooth fairy."

Plume peeps a greeting.

"Umm... tooth fairy?" She tilted her head to the side, resisting the urge to poke the little fairy.
