TEST DRIVE #6 - The Bridge and Ten Forward

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprise's off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...

Option 02. The Bridge: Well, aren't you a lucky duck? You've found yourself in hallowed quarters. Wherever you were before, you're not there anymore. Now you're in a room that could be some kind of command center or control room; there's a captain's chair flanked by seats for his chief officers, computer panels and stations at each interior wall, and before you a broad viewscreen that shows the wide expanse of space rushing towards you. Have you ever wanted to be a starship captain for a day? Well, here's your chance. Feel free to roam around, but try not to touch anything shiny.

[OOC: The Bridge isn't usually available for in-game posts, so if you've ever wanted to play there, here's your chance!]

Nate squinted, then nodded. "So, you're like the Luteces, but you actually travel before being in their bodies, instead of being constantly aware of every self in one self, all the time?" Nathan worked his way through that, then arched an eyebrow.

"Every world seems to have someone like that." Nathan sat back, glancing around. "So, I imagine I'll need to catch the attention of someone who works here, to find out what is going on, really. Much more polite than reading minds." Most of the time, Nathan tried to be polite.

Alec tilts his head back and laughs. It's a very off-kilter and slightly disturbing laugh, one of someone who definitely hasn't touched sanity in a long while. "I am aware of every single damn alternate of myself every single moment of my life and there is an alternate of me in every since possible reality. It's like having a constant chorus of babbling in my mind that never ever shuts up."

Sobering up a bit he stares off into space and then back at Nathan. "Oh, gods. I keep on trying to convince my boyfriend that it's rude to just read people's minds but he says it's just easier."

It reminded Nathan of a number of people, including his alternate self, sometimes. Nathan watched the man curiously, wondering if he was quite alright. "Why don't you block them out? Seems like an awfully noisy way to live life." And confusing.

Nathan chuckled. "My mom was like that sometimes, but mostly she tries not to do so, also. I just think it's silly, because you never know when you'll find someone ready for you, and your mind ends up being blasted to a fare-thee-well."

No. Not all right at all. "I can't. I can push most of them into the background most of the time but... nothing I've been able to come up with has fully silenced them. It's just a constant background noise." He sighs a little. It's hard to explain his life sometimes. "You get used to it but some times it's worse than others."

There's a snort. "Jono's just got this obnoxious superiority complex and is damn lucky that no one would dare harm the Oracle."

Sometimes Alec wonders how come he puts up with Jono. Love is weird like that.

Nathan nodded. "Have you tried finding a telepath to help isolate your personality and separating you from the rest?" He hmmed. "Or even a geneticist to isolate the connection between you and the others to help stop it?" He smiled as the other said he got used to it. "Well, whatever works for you..."

"At least he has you." Everyone needed someone, sometime.

"The last few telepaths that tried getting into my particular head ... didn't end up well," he admits. "And the geneticist thing wouldn't work... though it's an interesting idea. I never thought about it before. The issue comes from me be existing outside of time, space and reality among other things."

"He does. Someone has to smack him around occasionally." Alec stretches a bit. "Do you have anyone?"

"Ah. That could be a problem, yes." Nathan nodded, and chuckled, resettling, thinking of her face. "Yes. Back in the world I lived in, there is one, just as strange as me." Nathan smiled.

"She is my sanity."

"You don't seem very strange to me," says the as previously stated, pretty boy elf looking guy with clashing fashion sense and a tattoo on his face who spends his life living the life of other people.

He has been studying Nathan to see how he compares to other Scott Summers and Jean Grey genetic material Nathens he's met, like if there is the metal arm or not. It's nothing he's going to mention, it's just to satisfy his own curiosity.

"World you lived in? What happened to it?"

"Context is everything." Nathan grinned at his fellow traveler, who, mind you, was a bit odder than he was, maybe. Nonetheless, that just meant he wasn't odd from this man's perspective.

Nathan's genetics, and thoughts, also, were shielded behind the force of his telekinesis and telepathy, an old habit he had returned to as he traveled worlds. He had bad luck with geneticists and telepaths, hence the precautions.

On the man's question, he arched an eyebrow. "It's still there, but I moved on to a new world, a nice quiet place with several family members and friends." Nathan smiled as he settled back, thinking about ordering from the bar, identity or not.

"It really is." And it really is hard to make Alec think something is odd.

Alec is no telepath, he's an empath and not a very strong one at that. He could possibly keep Nathan out of his head, but there's no way he could get into Nathan's shielded mind. And while Alec could cheat and look at it through just the strands of reality, it's fairly rude so he tries to do it by observation.

"Ah. I've talked to some people and when they say world they lived it, it's because their old world was destroyed. May I ask why you moved?"
