Test Drive #7 - Ten Forward and Captain's Yacht

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprise's off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...





Option 02. The Captain's Yacht: Oooh, you sneaky stowaway! You've found yourself in a very exclusive part of the ship: Captain Picard's personal craft, used for short jaunts when a shuttle just won't do. (One must retain some decorum, after all.) It may not be as large as the Enterprise itself, but there are sure to be some surprises aboard once people start snooping.


[OOC: The Captain's Yacht is located at the very base of the Enterprise's saucer portion, so if you put someone in there you can also play them trying to get back to somewhere they know!]

"A pleasure to meet you both."

The similarities are amusing.

"What else do they choose to address you by, Aiylshia?" Yes, he deliberately uses her name.

"Lady, generally," she said. "But I'm a Black Widow, usually that means most people prefer to avoid me, when they can," she said with a smirk.

"Beyond a hideous spider or a woman who has a tendency to kill their husbands, what does it mean for your people."

Because Theo knows she's not a spider and he HIGHLY doubts that she's a serial murderer of husbands.

"I have no interest in marriage," she snapped.

"I never said you did. I wanted to know what it meant for your people. That's what it means to my people," Theo says without batting eye at her snapping.

She huffed a bit, and chewed her food intentionally slowly. Finally she said, "Black Widows are generally considered the most dangerous of witches," she said simply. "We weave the tangled webs of dreams and visions, and we can poison you with a touch," she said, deciding not to clarify that it was a very specific touch... I need to drink poison fairly regularly myself." She grinned viciously, "We are very difficult to kill, Prince."

"It definitely sounds like it." Of course she doesn't. Where would the fun be in that? He manages to sound impressed, which he is, but he's not afraid of her. Then again, he's a demi-god and also very hard to kill. "Huh. That's fascinating. What happens if you don't drink the poison?"

She smirked. "Trust me, it's not something I'm going to forget." she raised her hand and was suddenly holding a vial. "nor is it something that could be stripped from me." the vial vanished again as she twisted her hand. "Oh, and the best weavers of our kind ARE spiders. The kindred Arachnians."

Ugh. Spiders. Creepy things.

Yes. This is coming from the guy who has no issues with undead zombies and skeletons and things like that dislikes spiders.

"Huh. Like Arachnia. How do you become a black widow? Is it a born ability?"

"Most Black Widows are born to it, and the physical signs come at physical maturity. However, some witches who are so inclined can learn the craft and join the hourglass coven. They are never quite as strong at it as a natural born Black Widow, but it is possible, none the less." It was atypical for anyone to ask her so many questions, to be so interested in the Craft.

One thing Theo's father instilled in him is the necessity of knowing the strengths and weaknesses of any possible enemy, or even any possible ally. Well, really, just everyone. While he doesn't think that the two of them would become his enemies, old habits die hard. Besides, he might meet someone from their world who would be less incline to be friendly conversationalists. And this way he'd be more prepared than if he hadn't asked all these questions.

Paranoid?

Yes.

But, if she asks him to stop, he will. Trying to get answers out of an unwilling subject is harder than a willing one.

"That makes sense," he says with an absent nod. "People can learn to be necromancers in my world, but they won't ever be as strong as a blood born necromancer."

She nodded. "It is the same for Priestesses, though I know not the details, Prince."

[deadmanbusiness]

"Born a priestess, that's an interesting concept," he muses. "And call me Theo. Every time you say Prince I keep on thinking you're talking to Kale or Trever."

"By protocol, acquaintances address each other by titles." She took another bite of food. "I would not presume to call you without a title at this point, Prince. As you are not Blood, I could call you Warlord instead, if you prefer."

With a twitch of a smile on his face, Theo says, "Adrienne would probably suggest boytoy. Though I imagine 'divine one' is the most appropriate. That's what my cultists call me."

"And I am not one such, nor do I know the word divine." She was not commenting on the other without a weapon in hand.

Theo's wife has a terrible sense of humor in regards to their relationship at times. Or at least who wears the pants in the relationship.

"Divine refers to a god or demi-god. It's also considered to be the appropriate way to address one... at least if you want to be polite without having to go through all the titles."

(I am finding this terribly amusing) "If divine is the proper title, then," she said, reluctant to use a title she so ill understood, and having a feeling it was more a portent than she realized.

Sensing her reluctance, Theo said, "If it makes you feel more comfortable, you can use Warlord. Titles aren't used in day to day speech in my world. So, while Divine One is proper, I don't mind not being called it. And, then, what would be the proper address for the two of you?"

"Thank you, Warlord," she said with a nod. "I would be called Lady, as I am a Blood Female, he would be called Prince, as he is a Warlord Prince."

"The title is as much a warning as a courtesy," Theiorn said with a half grin.

"Oh, yes. I know that sort of thing." He grins a bit back. He likes the two of them.

There really aren't any titles like that any more beyond a few family names that scare the shit out of people. Theo's is one of them.

Theiorn grinned at him as well, and looked to Aiylisha. "You know, if he were first circle..."

She glared at Theiorn. "I am certain the Warlord has better things to do with his time," she snapped.


"Then maybe I wouldn't have to be with you, every single moment."

"Then don't be," she snapped.

"It is my right to serve," he replied smoothly.

"And my right to prefer you didn't," she said simply.

Theo watches the back and forth curiously and then asks Theiorn, "Why do you need to follow her around like a shadow?"

[the_blood]

"She has none of her court here to protect her. Thus, I have invoked my rights under Protocol to protect her until such a time as she has a full first circle here. Then she may choose to dismiss me from her service, if she wishes."

She looked decidedly grumpy as she ate.

"Aaah... that sort of thing," Theo says. He's doesn't know the the exact details of these sort of things, but he's got the basic feeling of what's going on. "She doesn't seem like a fragile glass doll to me. But, I suppose I really shouldn't say anything because I don't know your protocol."
