Hello, Ten Forward!

How are you all on this fine day? (Or not so fine depending on where you are. Here there were thunderstorms!)

All of March's apps have been reviewed and are being processed now, so we at Ten Forward want to give a warm welcome to all of our new applicants! Thanks for your patience as one of your mod team was out sick for most of a week.

We're SO excited to have you all with us, and we're looking forward to playing with you and getting to know you. Us mods are here as always to answer any questions you may have, so consider this your official welcome mat! Below is some helpful info, and this space can also be used to meet, mingle, plot CR, and update other players on who you play and where their Intros are.

• IC Intros/OPs: Your Opening Post can be where and when you prefer, as long as it isn't in a restricted area (ie: the bridge, engineering, crew operations). If you'd rather tag someone else's post to establish your entrance, that's totally allowed. The standard setup is to be winked into Ten Forward by Q, but if you need special arrangements—such as an immediate Sickbay visit—leave a comment letting us know.
  
  
• Life On Board: Your characters' first few days on the ship will involve a lax quarantine to guest quarters, Ten Forward, and the lifts/hallways between the two only. The medical staff will need to see them to clear them of disease and log their bio reading for future medical attention. Afterwards, they'll be assigned more permanent quarters and a roommate (unless there's a reason they cannot room with someone else), and be able to wander the civilian areas of the ship more freely.
  
  
• Sickbay: Next week, we will post an open sickbay log to play out any new character's checkups (as well as facilitate any plot, such as asking Dr. Crusher if you can volunteer to help), but it is not required if you would prefer to handwave your character checking out and getting the all clear from the docs aboard. If your character has any special medical conditions, let us know. If you have any other requests, leave a comment. Once your character has been cleared medically, they'll be released from the initial quarantine (of Ten Forward and the guest quarters only), assigned permanent rooms, and allowed to move more freely around the ship. Restricted areas are, of course, still off-limits (such as the bridge, engine rooms, conference rooms, etc). This is especially open to new applicants, but should anyone need to visit Sickbay remember it is OTA!
  
  
• Rooms: We will be assigning all new characters a room and a roommate by random draw. This means if you have special requirements or considerations, you should leave a request in a comment HERE with your character journal. Some examples would be: if your character has a spouse or SO they would prefer to be roomed with; your character is unable to share quarters because of their physiology/temperament; and the like. If you're bringing in a high-ranking Starfleet officer, you may be assigned VIP quarters. IC, the Enterprise crew would be sure any important officers would have the best rooms, but OOC we don't want you to miss out on building CR with another character, so all officers will automatically be treated the same as other characters unless you tell us otherwise. We'll post an OOC list of characters getting roommate assignments next week, and an IC Roommate Mixer will go up next weekend so all characters can meet and mingle.
  
  
• Plot/CR: March's plotting meme is located here, or you may leave a comment directly to this post if you're looking for any particular plots or CR for your character. Tag around other people's requests and make some new connections.
  
  
• Join/Update the OOC Cast list: If you're new to the game or you have recently changed your character roster, visit the Contact Post to let us know who you play and what the best means of getting in touch with you are. This post is locked to members of the OOC community, and it is entirely optional if you would rather not post your information anywhere. Please note: if you're not comfortable with giving out certain info (like e-mail addresses or SNs) but still want to be represented, not all fields are mandatory. Leave any fields blank if you don't want that information public, and post what you're comfortable with. Nobody's privacy will be compromised.

Well, I suppose I could do the introducing myself thing, couldn't I?

Hi all! I'm JK, one of your friendly neighbourhood mod team. I am most readily found at ashavah. I take the Australian moderator shift (we have mods all over the world, it's very cool). In real life I'm a librarian and a student with a life that is sometimes too busy for my own good, and the combination of that and my timezone means I can be slow, but I am always SO HAPPY TO PLAY WITH YOU ALL.

And on that note, for those who don't know, my cast is:

• Jonas Quinn (a_quick_study) of Stargate: SG-1, who is a giant dork, social scientist, and all-around sweetheart guy from a planet that doesn't even have a name yet;


• Jack Harkness (captgreatcoat) of the Whoniverse, who may not need introducing, but if he does, he's the biggest pansexual flirt in the multiverse, former time-traveller and conman, now alient hunter and immortal;


• Dylan Hunt (dreams_dont_die) of Andromeda, the biggest idealistic crusading fool of a hero you'll ever meet. Also possessed of genetically enhanced strength, a genuine quest, and a mess of issues over losing 300 years of time and a whole way of life. And his starship;


• Simon Tam (osirian_doctor) of Firefly, doctor, surgeon, exceedingly protective big brother, smart-alec, and total failure at anything to do with women;


• Finnick Odair (fishermansweater) of The Hunger Games, fisherman, Hunger Games victor, celebrity, revolutionary, charmer, flirt, oh, and did I mention prostitute, who'd really rather be left alone with his fiancée Annie.

⊗ Laura Kinney (miniclaws) Marvel 616: Laura is Wolverine's clone. She spent the first 16 years of her life, locked in a Facility being turned into the perfect weapon. She's got claws in her hands and feet and she is not afraid to use them.

Hey everybody! I'm another one of your friendly neighborhood mods. I go by Gabby, and you can find me on Plurk @ gabbynormal or AIM @ gabby.normal ! I live in EDT (GMT-4 currently), and do most of my tagging in the evenings/late at night, but I kind of have an unpredictable schedule.

Hello! I am Samm, and I've brought in a GW2 Sylvari Necromancer OC named Asteffiel.

For anyone who isn't familiar with GW2, Sylvari are a race of salads botanical humanoids that are only about 27 years old as a group, as of Asteffiel's canon point. Completely made of plants. Dusts pollen when he moves. Glows at night. Have fun with that.

Anyway, I'm on plurk at radiantwingedone, where I mostly plurk about Guild Wars 2 and memes.

It's so nice to have you with us! Asteffiel sounds like he's going to be a blast in this game, particularly for my goofy astronaut character who is (or was, before Q got involved) stuck on a spaceship with an alien who is also a plant. I feel like he and Asteffiel might bond. XD

Alex Rogan, 1st_starfighter, from the Last Starfighter, small town boy does good, engineer and pilot who was lost in space for hundreds of years before being found by the Enterprise.

Booker DeWitt, just_dewitt, from Bioshock Infinite, sometimes grumpy man who is prone to violent answers to problems and whose very body is changing underneath his eyes.

Bruce Banner, doctorbrucebanner, from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, doctor, scientist, hunted man, he is both hero and villain of his own story.

Harry Dresden, dresdensluck, from the Dresden Files books, He is wizard, hero, Knight, and the last hope for those who have nowhere else to turn.

Merlin, themerlin, from Mythology, in particular the poem Merlin by Robert deBoron, ancient mischievous wizard, shapeshifter, busybody, and kingmaker, he gives new meaning to the term genderfluid.

Remy Lebeau, callmegambit, from Marvel Comics, former thief, X-Man, and jack of all trades, Remy plays games except when lives are on the line.

And introducing Nathan Summers, an au of the X-Man known as Cable, alter_nate_ive, from Marvel comics and the Insanejournal game Valar, a young man with the added-on memories and powers of a grumpy old soldier, he strives to be a Bridge between what could be and what is.

Also introducing Thor Odinson, an au of the one known in the movies, thepowerofthor, from the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as the Valar insanejournal game, he is an actor, a God, an alien, and a man who will stop at nothing to experience new things.

Hey! I'm Leon, and I play the following:

Lt. Commander Terzen T'Karr (empathic_pathfinder). A Star Trek Fandom OC from approximately one year in the future. He's half Trill, which gives him a nice arrangement of spots running from his head all the way down, and half-Betazoid, which gives him a nice dose of empathic powers. Currently, he's the Tactical/Comms officer on the third shift.

Peter Quill but people call him Star-Lord (partofaplan), from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not doing much, kicking his heels, bored and frustrated at not being able to jet about the galaxy like he used to be able to do.

Orlin (ancientstalker), from Stargate SG-1. Our resident Ancient. He doesn't exist on this plane, instead exists as pure energy. He's taking pains to seem human, however, and, given that they created the humans in his home universe, he's excellent at cloaking his real form. He can even pick things up!

Mack Gerhardt (notalwaysstrong), from The Unit. He's currently a medic, but is probably going to be resigning because he's sick of dealing with crazy people.

Sean Slater (walfordpsychopath), from EastEnders. The Enterprise's resident cockney charmer. Not someone to get on the wrong side of, but is still coming to terms with being on a spaceship.

Weyoun (voiceofthefounders), from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The Vorta representative of the Gamma Quadrant super-power known only as the Dominion. He's charming, affable, friendly... but constantly scheming, searching for ways to further the Dominion's goals in the Alpha Quadrant... before they've even begun.

And, finally, introducing my new guys:

First off is Jason Walsh (raincoatruinedit), from The Unusuals. He's an NYPD from the Second Precinct, well-known for their crazy and whacky crimes.

Secondly is Dr. Carson Beckett (atadiscoverer), from Stargate: Atlantis. Chief Medical Officer of the Atlantis Expedition, he's an expert geneticist and known as the best surgeon in two galaxies.

After all, the Galactic Empire that conquered most of human space in Marika's universe is maddeningly vague and detailless. And even if they aren't actually the Dominion wearing a funny hat and a far more liberal policy on allowing people to remain armed, well, all that power has to be a tempting target to take over, right?

I'll think of a hook for Trilby later. She can just be an uncouth sort in the bar for the time being. She's good at that!

First we have Marika Kato, heirtothechair, from Bodacious Space Pirates who would like to get back to Captaining her own ship and has issues with time travels tenses (thanks Q!).

And now, Trilby Elliot, air_sprite, from Finders Keppers, who generally works as a peaceful freighter captain even if she has two of her ships shot out from under her over the course of the novel.

The new guy this time around is Future Trunks from Dragonball Z, a ridiculously overpowered half-Saiyan from a post-apocalyptic bad end future where most of the Earth's population is dead and he's the last hope for humanity. Basically: Japan's answer to John Connor.

My other characters are Julian Bashir (asklepian) from Deep Space 9, Tora Ziyal (blindadoration) from the same, Seven of Nine (unkindness) from Voyager, and Ziva David (sabra) from NCIS.

Emma Frost Summers diamonds_are_forever She's heavily AU, but somethings are the same. She's snarky, gorgeous, and she'll tear anyone who messes with her apart. She has an NPC daughter who will be handwaved because kids.

Rosalind Lutece fatalist_physicist is a quantum physicist from the Edwardian ear who found herself mixed up with a religious nutjob who wanted a floating city.

And my old ones are:

Lorna Dane magneticxman She's a little unstable, but generally a sweet if somewhat sarcastic woman.

Elizabeth DeWitt Has time traveled a lot and more or less knows the drill by now. She's a cheerful person and tends to carry her baby around with her. Said baby is tiny, so beware of drool.

Chicklet here, checking in with my new journal, for Private Kaylin Neya. According to her Sargent, there is in fact a rank lower than Private... Corpse.

That being said, meet a healer/magic user who detests magic, and has a serious weakness for kids. And food. She is going to LOVE it here once she realizes the food is plentiful. She'll have mixed feelings about the lack of real booze.

I also play Agatha Heterodyne from Girl Genius, and Primrose Everdeen from Hunger games.

I also have Ayesh from Ashes of The Sun and 2 OCs from the Blood universe by Anne Bishop that will be playable when their entry PSLs are concluded!

SO I AM AN OLDBIE WITH only about three characters now.

My current muses are an au Genesis Rhapsodos from that stupidly popular game series Final Fantasy, specifically the seventh installment. Well, the spin-off of the seventh. She's not in the actual game. AND SHE'S A GIRL IN MY AU, in canon, he's a dude and looks like Gackt because for some reason they decided to model the character after him who cares he's gorgeous

ANYWAY, and I also have Jack Frost from Dreamwork's Rise of the Guardians and will soon, hopefully, be in the upcoming 5th book by William Joyce, The Guardians of Childhood, of which the movie is based off.

AND NOW, I bring you Goofy Goof! He is from the Kingdom Hearts series by Disney and Square-Enix. That video game series where the characters have way too many belts and zippers and are about hearts and stuff. Because that certainly comes to mind when thinking about belts and zippers, right? Also, he has some of the same canon things as his movie counterpart from the Goofy Movies, like his son being Max and such like that but retains more of his KH personality.
