All of February's apps are currently being processed, so it's time once again for us to roll out the welcome mat for all of our new players! To each and every one of you we give a very warm hello!

We're really looking forward to getting to know everyone and play with all of your wonderful characters. Us mods are here as always to answer any questions you may have, so you will see some helpful links below to get you and your characters started. This space can also be used to meet, mingle, plot CR, and update other players on who you play and where their Intros are. So, let's Make it So!

This post is locked to members of the OOC community, and you can leave any fields blank if you don't want that information public, posting only what you're comfortable with. ☆ Game updates: We strongly recommend you join, follow, and/or track our OOC Community ten_fwd_ooc. It's the best way to stay up to date with the game and any announcements from your mod team as soon as they happen. As an additional note, last month we got three new additions to the mod team, so please be patient with us all as we learn the ropes!

☆ Getting started: You can intro your character as soon as you have your game clearance. The standard setup is to be winked into Ten Forward by Q, but you can also tag into someone else's post or enter your character anywhere that isn't in a restricted area (ie: the bridge, engineering, crew operations). If you need special arrangements—such as an immediate Sickbay visit—leave a comment letting us know.

Quarantine, Sickbay, and Rooming: Your characters' first few days on the ship will involve a lax quarantine to guest quarters, Ten Forward, and the lifts/hallways between the two only, until they've passed a basic medical check and had some vaccinations. There will be an open Sickbay log posted on Friday for the checkups. After their Sickbay visits, characters will be released from quarantine, assigned permanent rooms, and allowed to move more freely around the ship. All new characters are assigned a room and a roommate by random draw. There will be an OOC post about room assignments Monday, and an IC Roommate Mixer will go up next Sunday so characters can mingle. This will include a linked IC tour and introduction to the ship.

☆ Activity Check: Our activity checks are bi-annual, and our next AC will run from February 14th-28th. Characters who joined us in January and February will be exempt from this round of AC, but if you'd like more information on AC and what it entails, you can find out right here. We have a monthly check-in on non-AC months, which will run again from April 1st-7th. No activity is required for check-ins, just a comment that you're still with us out there!

☆ Pacifica and February Plots: For those who have been asking: while your character is under quarantine they will NOT be allowed to disembark. Quarantine lasts until they've gotten their vaccinations/check-up in sickbay, which handwavily occurs a few days after they arrive. After their Entrance Post, give a few IC days to allow for all the necessary checks, and then you can assume your characters will be free to visit the planet and engage in all the other plots. :)

• Life On Board: Your characters' first few days on the ship will involve a lax quarantine to guest quarters, Ten Forward, and the lifts/hallways between the two only. The medical staff will need to see them to clear them of disease and log their bio reading for future medical attention. Afterwards, they'll be assigned more permanent quarters and a roommate (unless there's a reason they cannot room with someone else), and be able to wander the civilian areas of the ship more freely.
  
  
• Sickbay: On Friday, we will post an open sickbay log to play out any new character's checkups (as well as facilitate any plot, such as asking Dr. Crusher if you can volunteer to help), but it is not required if you would prefer to handwave your character checking out and getting the all clear from the docs aboard. If your character has any special medical conditions, let us know. If you have any other requests, leave a comment. Once your character has been cleared medically, they'll be released from the initial quarantine (of Ten Forward and the guest quarters only), assigned permanent rooms, and allowed to move more freely around the ship. Restricted areas are, of course, still off-limits (such as the bridge, engine rooms, conference rooms, etc). This is especially open to new applicants, but should anyone need to visit Sickbay remember it is OTA!

  At this time, we're also shuffling up some of the rooms who have lost a roommate due to a character drop, gained a significant other or family member through a late app, or need a reassignment for any other reason. We do this approximately quarterly as new characters shuffle in and old ones shuffle out. If you would like to switch up your rooming situation, drop us a line and let us know. We'll either put your character into the random hat and pair them up with a new roomie by dice roll, or if you have a special consideration like those listed above we'll take them into account. Shuffling is totally optional, so if you don't make a request to do so then you will stay right where you are, no muss no fuss. We'll post an OOC list of characters getting roommate assignments early next week, and an IC Roommate Mixer will go up next weekend so all characters can meet and mingle.

Please note: if you're not comfortable with giving out certain info (like e-mail addresses or SNs) but still want to be represented, not all fields are mandatory. Leave any fields blank if you don't want that information public, and post what you're comfortable with. Nobody's privacy will be compromised.

Welcome to Ten Forward, September apps!

Every month we roll out the official welcome mat and say hello to all our new players. We're all looking forward to playing with you and getting to know you, and we the mods want to be available to answer any questions you have. We also want everyone to have a chance to meet, mingle, plot CR, and update us on who you play and where their Intros are.

Our last few Meet & Greet posts cover some basics, like what's the deal with these "Food For Thought" posts, how we handle IC intros/opening posts here, what your character should expect when arriving, and a who's who of players and their muses. We'll go ahead and repeat some of the important basics:

• Intros/OPs: Your Opening Post can be where and when you prefer, as long as it isn't in a restricted area (ie: the bridge, engineering, crew operations). If you'd rather tag someone else's post to establish your entrance, that's totally allowed. The standard setup is to be winked into Ten Forward by Q, but if you need special arrangements leave a comment letting us know.
  
  
• Life On Board: Your characters' first few days on the ship will involve a lax quarantine to guest quarters, Ten Forward, and the lifts/hallways between the two only. The medical staff will need to see them to clear them of disease and log their bio reading for future medical attention. Afterwards, they'll be assigned more permanent quarters and a roommate (unless there's a reason they cannot room with someone else), and be able to wander the civilian areas of the ship more freely.
  
  
• Sickbay: A sickbay post will be arranged for this Wednesday to play out the new character's checkups (as well as cover any sustained injuries from our Alemar III plot), but it is not required if you would prefer to handwave your character checking out and getting the all clear from the docs aboard. If your character has any special medical conditions, let us know. If you have any other requests, leave a comment.
  
  
• Rooms: We will be assigning all new characters a room and a roommate by random draw. This means if you have special requirements or considerations, you should leave a request in a comment here with your character journal. Some examples would be: if your character has a spouse or SO they would prefer to be roomed with; your character is unable to share quarters because of their physiology/temperament; and the like. If you're bringing in a high-ranking Starfleet officer, you may be assigned VIP quarters. IC, the Enterprise crew would be sure any important officers would have the best rooms, but OOC we don't want you to miss out on building CR with another character, so all officers will automatically be treated the same as other characters unless you tell us otherwise. We will post more about rooming arrangements this Friday.

Just one more brief update, as of a few hours ago we just cleared our 100th app. That means our tiny, brand new game is not so tiny anymore! Thank you all for joining Ten Forward and playing with us. We never could have imagined it would grow so fast. The interest and support is totally overwhelming, and we are so happy you are all here with us. Because the game is growing so fast, we're going to be improving a lot of the OOC pages and information to make it easier to navigate and find what you're looking for. We'll also be doing some new things, like opening up IC jobs for your characters, making some handy maps, and hopefully some other cool things as well. Because we all have limited free time, these updates will happen asap whenever we can get to them, and will probably be trickling in over the next few months. We'll be updating you as it happens, and letting you know how you can help if you feel so inclined. For now, just know that we're on it, and we're so glad you're with us. Thank you.
