Greetings, denizens of Ten Forward!

At some ridiculous hour of the morning, all apps were processed through with only a few exceptions pending minor edits. We have quite a few new players joining us, so we wanted to officially welcome everybody and let them introduce themselves if they're so inclined.

• Leave a comment telling us who you are and who you play, leave your preferred means of contact if you'd like to keep in touch with other players, and tell us of any plots and plans you're hoping to accomplish while here.
  
  
• We're often a silly bunch, posting such things as OOC Dance Parties and weekly "Food For Thought" posts which encourage thinking up wacky scenarios for your characters that can either be just for fun, or fodder for future game plots. If anything confuses you, please feel free to ask about it, or just jump right in! It's a great way to get to know each other and all the characters in the game. (A new Food For Thought just went up this morning, so check it out here! What would your character be like if they were in a pageant?)
  
  
• Questions about OPs? Your Opening Post can be where and when you prefer, as long as it isn't in a restricted area (ie: the bridge, engineering, crew operations). If you'd rather tag someone else's post to establish your entrance, that's absolutely fine! We encourage everyone to tag around and make sure every post gets a little action. We're still a new, small group. The standard setup is to be winked into Ten Forward by Q, where much confusion will ensue but where anyone and everyone can tag you. However, if you need special arrangements (ie: if your character is going to freak out and needs to be subdued by Security or a familiar face [canon mate], or if they're coming aboard injured), we're more than happy to work with you! Leave a comment asking for the setup you'd prefer, or contact one of the mods to make sure it's okay. I'm aware that there are a few characters this app period who will need special considerations, so we're here for you! If your character is from the Star Trek universe and already aboard the Enterprise (without needing to be 'winked' aboard), you may set up your OP in whatever fashion you choose and let us know if you're available to help newcomers adjust to their new surroundings; however, as per the game rules, don't change or affect ship operations without mod approval. We'll be happy to give it as long as you ask us! Feel free to use this post to toss your hat in and plot with other people.
  
  
• Your characters' first few days on the ship will involve a lax quarantine to guest quarters, Ten Forward, and the lifts/hallways between the two only. The medical staff will want to see them, to clear them of any nasty diseases they might be carrying and log their bio reading for future medical attention. After they're cleared, and it's established they mean no harm to the ship or the rest of her passengers, they'll be assigned more permanent quarters and a roommate (unless there's a reason they cannot room with someone else), and be able to wander the civilian areas of the ship more freely. Arrangements to play all of this out can be made by request. Just assume the quarantine will last three days at least before your character is free to move about, and if your character is seriously ill it may take longer. To request a room and roommate, please leave a comment here with your character journal.

Hail and well-met, folks of Ten-Forward. I am Wingus, and I bring you Haruto Souma, the protagonist of Kamen Rider Wizard. (willbeyourhope/notrickshere) He's a quick-witted magic user with ridiculously oversized rings, self-esteem issues that are getting better, and an eternal love of plain sugar donuts.

And unlike the other superheroes of his genre here, he's not too concerned about secret identities and keeping his Rider nature under wraps - he'll be using magic in plain sight, and transforming if necessary right out in the open. Also - if it's possible, I would like to thread out his medical screening, because he's kind of hosting a hostile magical dragon inside him that will likely tip off something on the scanners.

Okay, I have a question about the medical checkup. I'm just wondering what sort of things would be picked up during it, as my characters have some unusual traits and I'm not sure what would or wouldn't be picked up and what would be being scanned since I'm not familiar with TNG canon. Is there any information anywhere about what would or wouldn't be noticed?

(Jack is likely to be grumpy about getting a medical from anyone who is not Owen. Too bad, so sad, Jack.)

There is a lot of information, yes! The equipment the medical team primarily uses are medical tricorders and biobeds, if you wanted to delve into exactly what those things do (you can also read the article on the sickbay, if you wanted to be really informed). These devices are pretty intensive, and can pick up just about anything.

However, just for the purposes of the game, the medical checkup is for vaccinating against any diseases carried in from all the different worlds and centuries, and logging each character's biology in the computer, in the event they get wounded and need medical assistance. So really all we need to know is your character's species, basic physiology, and any interesting ailments/symbiotes/parasites they might have. How detailed you want to be is entirely up to you. You can take a peek at what some of the other characters did in our last sickbay post, if it will be helpful!
