Test Drive #7 - Ten Forward and Captain's Yacht

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprise's off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...





Option 02. The Captain's Yacht: Oooh, you sneaky stowaway! You've found yourself in a very exclusive part of the ship: Captain Picard's personal craft, used for short jaunts when a shuttle just won't do. (One must retain some decorum, after all.) It may not be as large as the Enterprise itself, but there are sure to be some surprises aboard once people start snooping.


[OOC: The Captain's Yacht is located at the very base of the Enterprise's saucer portion, so if you put someone in there you can also play them trying to get back to somewhere they know!]

Theo thinks upon for a moment trying to pick something that he's fairly certain is unique to his world. "Well, let's see... what about fortunate fools?" Theo asks. "Wait... let me rephrase that. The seventh son of a seventh son is unusually lucky. They can bend probability into their favor. Or necromancers?"

"No clue what a Necromancer is, and... we do not generally have such overly large families," Aiylshia said simply.

[deadmanbusiness]

"We don't either, which is why they're very rare and dangerous," Theo says. "As for a necromancer, we can raise and create undead. I could take someone who has died and bring them back to semblance of life. Into some one like you."

He nods his head to the demon prince.

[the_blood]

"For us no one needs to do that on our world," he said, "it is a natural process."

[deadmanbusiness]

"I can do it for people who don't have an excess of will. And I can create various other kinds of undead." He twitches a smile. "I can also control them. Even intelligent ones."

[the_blood]

"If someone does not have enough will to survive to remain, why would you force that on them?" Ailishya asked, horrified.

[deadmanbusiness]

"Because they ask me to do it. I'm not going to force it on someone. Or I create unintelligent undead. Skeletons and zombies." Theo's not evil, after all.

[the_blood]

"IF they do not have the will, how do they ask?" Theiorn asked.

[deadmanbusiness]

"For the unintelligent undead I'd just be using their bodies, their soul has long departed. Generally that makes people uncomfortable and they consider it a desecration of the body so it's been made illegal in most parts of the world." Theo doesn't offer his opinion on the matter.

They just both looked at him so oddly. This was so far outside of anything they had ever imagined that they had no ready response.

Heh.

"Well, I guess there are some things my people can do that yours can't."

[the_blood]

She gave a small sniff and focused on her drink.

Theiorn shot him a grin behind her head, and a wink.

Male bonding at its finest.

"My name's Theodred, but I prefer to be called Theo," Theo offers instead. He leaves off the usual 'yes like the Lord of the Rings character' addition that he ends up having to say with so many people.

"I am Theiorn," he said, amused by the similarities.

"I am called Aiylshia, by those who choose to address me by name," she said simply, glancing back over, fork halfway to her mouth. She had fallen upon the food and more than half the tremendous amount was gone, with no signs of her slowing down.

"A pleasure to meet you both."

The similarities are amusing.

"What else do they choose to address you by, Aiylshia?" Yes, he deliberately uses her name.

[the_blood]

"Lady, generally," she said. "But I'm a Black Widow, usually that means most people prefer to avoid me, when they can," she said with a smirk.

[deadmanbusiness]

"Beyond a hideous spider or a woman who has a tendency to kill their husbands, what does it mean for your people."

Because Theo knows she's not a spider and he HIGHLY doubts that she's a serial murderer of husbands.

[the_blood]

"I have no interest in marriage," she snapped.

[deadmanbusiness]

"I never said you did. I wanted to know what it meant for your people. That's what it means to my people," Theo says without batting eye at her snapping.

[the_blood]

She huffed a bit, and chewed her food intentionally slowly. Finally she said, "Black Widows are generally considered the most dangerous of witches," she said simply. "We weave the tangled webs of dreams and visions, and we can poison you with a touch," she said, deciding not to clarify that it was a very specific touch... I need to drink poison fairly regularly myself." She grinned viciously, "We are very difficult to kill, Prince."

"It definitely sounds like it." Of course she doesn't. Where would the fun be in that? He manages to sound impressed, which he is, but he's not afraid of her. Then again, he's a demi-god and also very hard to kill. "Huh. That's fascinating. What happens if you don't drink the poison?"

[the_blood]

She smirked. "Trust me, it's not something I'm going to forget." she raised her hand and was suddenly holding a vial. "nor is it something that could be stripped from me." the vial vanished again as she twisted her hand. "Oh, and the best weavers of our kind ARE spiders. The kindred Arachnians."

[deadmanbusiness]

Ugh. Spiders. Creepy things.

Yes. This is coming from the guy who has no issues with undead zombies and skeletons and things like that dislikes spiders.

"Huh. Like Arachnia. How do you become a black widow? Is it a born ability?"

[the_blood]

"Most Black Widows are born to it, and the physical signs come at physical maturity. However, some witches who are so inclined can learn the craft and join the hourglass coven. They are never quite as strong at it as a natural born Black Widow, but it is possible, none the less." It was atypical for anyone to ask her so many questions, to be so interested in the Craft.

One thing Theo's father instilled in him is the necessity of knowing the strengths and weaknesses of any possible enemy, or even any possible ally. Well, really, just everyone. While he doesn't think that the two of them would become his enemies, old habits die hard. Besides, he might meet someone from their world who would be less incline to be friendly conversationalists. And this way he'd be more prepared than if he hadn't asked all these questions.

Paranoid?

Yes.

But, if she asks him to stop, he will. Trying to get answers out of an unwilling subject is harder than a willing one.

"That makes sense," he says with an absent nod. "People can learn to be necromancers in my world, but they won't ever be as strong as a blood born necromancer."
