Hello August Apps, and welcome to Ten Forward!

By this point we only have a few apps left pending, so we wanted to roll out the official welcome mat and say hello to all our new players. We're all looking forward to playing with you and getting to know you, and we the mods want to be available to answer any questions you have. We'll be popping in on all your intro posts, but we also wanted a handy official-type welcome up so everyone can meet, mingle, and be sure their questions get answered.

Our last few Meet & Greet posts cover some basics, like what's the deal with these "Food For Thought" posts, how we handle IC intros/opening posts here, what your character should expect when arriving, and a who's who of players and their muses. We'll go ahead and repeat some of the important basics:

Intros/OPs: Your Opening Post can be where and when you prefer, as long as it isn't in a restricted area (ie: the bridge, engineering, crew operations). If you'd rather tag someone else's post to establish your entrance, that's totally allowed. The standard setup is to be winked into Ten Forward by Q, but if you need special arrangements leave a comment letting us know.
Life On Board: Your characters' first few days on the ship will involve a lax quarantine to guest quarters, Ten Forward, and the lifts/hallways between the two only. The medical staff will need to see them to clear them of disease and log their bio reading for future medical attention. Afterwards, they'll be assigned more permanent quarters and a roommate (unless there's a reason they cannot room with someone else), and be able to wander the civilian areas of the ship more freely.
Sickbay: A sickbay post may be arranged to play out the new character's checkups, but it is not required if you would prefer to handwave your character checking out and getting the all clear from the docs aboard. If your character has any special medical conditions, let us know. If you have any other requests, leave a comment.
Rooms: We will be assigning all new characters a room and a roommate by random draw. This means if you have special requirements or considerations, you should leave a request in a comment here with your character journal. Some examples would be: if your character has a spouse or SO they would prefer to be roomed with; your character is unable to share quarters because of their physiology/temperament; and the like. If you're bringing in a high-ranking Starfleet officer, you may be assigned VIP quarters. IC, the Enterprise crew would be sure any important officers would have the best rooms, but OOC we don't want you to miss out on building CR with another character, so all officers will automatically be treated the same as other characters unless you tell us otherwise.
Plot/CR: August's plotting meme is located here, or you may leave a comment directly to this post if you're looking for any particular plots or CR for your character. Tag around other people's requests and make some new connections.

The current game plot: You may be wondering how the current game plot will affect your IC Intros. We've covered that here. We also have a number of really lovely OOC Intros floating around the comm, so scroll back and have a look. If you haven't made your own Intro post, leave a comment here telling us who you are and who you play, leave your preferred means of contact if you'd like to keep in touch with other players, and tell us of any plots and plans you're hoping to accomplish while here. Or, if you'd like something a lot more laid back, how about an OOC dance party? We do these every once in a while to share fun links, silly ideas, music and geekiness, so come cut loose with us! It's still brand new.

Hii everyone! And to the new people, welcome to the game!

As previously said in my OOC post, I'm Jen (though we do have another Jen, so I also go by 'Zelly' if there's any confusion!) and I have two new people this month to add to my roster. From Doctor Who, I play Rose Tyler (

defendergirl) and Rory Williams (

rorypond); from Spider-Man fame, I will be playing Peter Parker (

spideys); and from Almost Human, I've got Detective John Kennex (

likeavirtue).

I can be contacted through email (gabardine.suits at gmail), journal-PM, or contact post(s) on any of my pups' journals, but the easiest way to get a hold of me these days is through plurk:

skyfell. Feel free to add me! I'm pretty much on it every day, just bopping around and tagging things in between work and relaxation. I play from Canadian EST-time, and very much live in slowtime + backtag. These days I've been pretty consistently tagging at least once or twice per day, but this may not always be a thing!

Currently Rose and Rory are involved in game-plot things, but once that's done, they're definitely up for CR opportunities. Rory helps out in the sickbay every month (and whenever he's scheduled a shift) so if you need a friendly, knowledgable nurse, he's more than happy to help you out.

I would love for all of mine to have CR with all of yours - so if you have any plans, curiousities, anything at all, let me know!
