TEST DRIVE #6 - The Bridge and Ten Forward

Option 01. Ten Forward: The first thing you see is a bar. A large, lively bar filled with many different faces and many different smells, sights and sounds. This is Ten Forward, the Enterprise's off-duty lounge; feel free to get acquainted with your fellow travelers and try to find somebody who's in charge: this is your new home now, after all...

Option 02. The Bridge: Well, aren't you a lucky duck? You've found yourself in hallowed quarters. Wherever you were before, you're not there anymore. Now you're in a room that could be some kind of command center or control room; there's a captain's chair flanked by seats for his chief officers, computer panels and stations at each interior wall, and before you a broad viewscreen that shows the wide expanse of space rushing towards you. Have you ever wanted to be a starship captain for a day? Well, here's your chance. Feel free to roam around, but try not to touch anything shiny.
[OOC: The Bridge isn't usually available for in-game posts, so if you've ever wanted to play there, here's your chance!]

He appears casual - except he's still tensed. And glancing around. ]
A trickster and a reality wrapper. Interesting.
[ Not much fun in that. ]
I've heard of those types of beings.
no subject
Tricksters tend to make the best and worst reality warpers. They have the imagination and the will to change it, and usually don't care as much.
[While, Alec puts himself in that category, he's not going to flat out admit it to Magento. If he figures it out on his own, then good. If not... then not.]
Yeah. I can't remember if I've ever seen any on your world before though.
no subject
I've heard it say that tricksters by default are reality warpers, though the inverse is not true.
[ He may or may not figure it out. He's still getting his bearings. ]
I think there's a great many things in my universe most haven't seen.
no subject
Yeess... I could probably agree with that one. Tricksters needing to be able to cheat reality and the rules to play their tricks after all. Like the difference between Loki and Franklin Richards.
[Hopefully Alec's politeness will at least earn him a good point or two.]
Mm... Yes. Like the inside of a whale's belly or ...
[Alec's shadow flickers just briefly before he pauses and wiggles a finger in his ear.]
Sorry. Channeling the Fool for a second. Speak of the devil and he shall appear sort of thing.
But you've seen a lot.
no subject
Yes, exactly. Though Franklin's still young, and like any child, has a perchance for mischief and pranks. Perhaps not helped by the rest of us.
[ Mutants have a sense of humor. They have to. ]
Understandable.
More than most. At least for those from Earth, it seems.
And I just totally stole your comment about fitting into the spaces for Alec's app
And hopefully he'll keep on and follow his parent's and family's heroic footsteps.
[It's the only way to deal with things sometimes.]
What was the most interesting thing you've seen? Or... thing that you never could believe could have existed, really?
Glad to help :)
I have no doubt he will.
[ Faith in something good? More likely than anyone thinks. ]
Us. All of us. The differences, the similarities, the complexities of our powers. Even when you look at psychics, no one's powers work completely the same way.
It really does work very well
No, they don't really, do they? In a way, I guess, everyone is a reality warper. Their perception of who they are changes what they do in reality... and in the case of powers, how they express it, I imagine.
[It's not something he's ever really thought about before. Never need to think about before. But the thought is there now and he'll chew it over.]
no subject
It's not quite to the level that a certain very terrible 'documentary' on quantum physics would make it out to be, but I suppose that's true. I've heard it questioned if we don't have some unconscious control over how the final expression of our powers works out, rather than it being completely random.
no subject
[He then makes a bit of a humming noise.]
There's possibly some merit to that. I was born with the ability to control all four elements and I should be able to merge them in someway, but I've got a complete and utter mental block on it because I was told as a child that if I were to use all four, I'd be killed. Been trying for years now... can't do it.
no subject
[ He's not impressed with it. ]
Yes. It does happen occasionally with some people and their powers.
[ He's pretty sure it's happened with Rogue. ]
no subject
Oh. That's hilarious. That is ... That... is... Oh... They couldn't be more wrong...
[He hiccups a laugh again.]
Getting told you might get killed for using it does that to you.
[Probably. Her and Cyclops... depending on... things.]
no subject
They have this entire segment about an experiment where people thought negative things towards beakers of water and positive things to others and claimed the molecules changed.
[ And his is a world where unstable molecules exist but this is just stupid. ]
Yes, it would.
[ And a few others. ]
no subject
All right, now that's just plain stupid. I mean, I've heard and seen some pretty stupid shit in my life, but that... hippie molecules... or would that be mood ring molecules? That's just... ridiculous.
I mean... just... what reality are they living in?
You realize I'm going to have to watch that AGAIN just so Mags can bitch aobut it now
One borne of too many LSD experiments? I had to watch it just to see how badly the science was.
I'm so sorry. Really, I am. No one should watch that, it sounds like.
You mean [hiccup] you watc [hiccup] watched it willingly? [hiccup] No one got [hiccup] you drunk or [hiccup] paid you?
Did you [hiccup] end up [hiccup] drunk by the end?
I had to watch it for a philosophy class. IT WAS LITERALLY THE FINAL.
Lorena swore I wouldn't make it through it without breaking the TV. I won, at the expense of having to watch it.
[ There's a wry smile to his face as he says it. ]
Just watching it? No questions or anything? :O
Oh, I've [hiccup] been in [hiccup] those situations [hiccup] before.
Usually re- [hiccup] oh bugger [hiccup] fucknuts.
I usually regret it later.
[He hesitates... and then hiccups again.]
I'm sure the TV ap-[hiccup] appreciated it, at [hiccup] least.
[Beyond the hiccups, Alec thinks this is hysterical. The idea of Magneto doing something so... not exactly childish or silly .. he's not sure of the word... maybe human... compared to how the rest of the people think of him.]
Oh we had a "discussion" about it. Dude had White Savior Complex, pissed me off
And nothing else DOES right now. ]
It's been a while, but yes, you do generally regret those. Though it's worth it in other ways.
[ Something so mundane. He's also been known to color in little paper books with his grandchildren, when he saw them. There was a world outside being Magneto, even if he occasionally forgot it - and made damn sure the world did. ]
That sounds horrid. Awful and deathly and justified murder horrid
How [hiccup] was it worth [hiccup] it?
[Now coloring with his grandchildren Alec can easily see. And taking a lot of quiet joy in it.]
Oh for fuck [hiccup]'s sake.
I may have almost thrown a punch when he argued with me about sacred numbers and MY FUCKING TRIBE.
Well. Now I get to test her mettle with something faux-science and geology related.
[ He got to bond with his kid. It was worth it.
But he just laughs as Alec. ]
It's a diaphragm spasm. Holding your breath really does work, as does drinking something.
oish. I HATE when people think they know the horse better than the horse
Geology [hiccup] related?
[He makes a face at Magneto... it's really the sort of face that a child would make at their parent who told them something completely obvious and annoying, like putting on a sweater when it's cold out.
But he does try holding his breath.]
yeeeeeeeeeeah. I was *pissed*.
[ Where as he studied physics. But the look gets him another snort of quiet laughter. ]
She's a bit of a rock hound.
Nothing you could do would get into his head either, I bet
My mother... [he says experimentally... the hiccups appear to be gone.] my mother was fond of rocks as well. Though she was an artist... I don't know exactly what you could do with a degree in geology.
Nope. Nothing at all.
Teach. Research - same as any other degree in the sciences. Also geology is the basis for studies of oceanography and astrophysics. Environmental sciences and engineering as well. Or working with paleontologists. It's actually a broad field.
Justified murder, I'm sure.
I think so. And wow did I mispell Polaris' first name. O.O. I blame migraine.
I blame migraines for everything. Even cat vomit.
Sounds like a good plan.

*snort* I was wondering. But I've done that.
And then I had a massive migraine and just diiied so I couldn't check
I had one of those the beginning of the week, they suck
Whoever invented migraines should feel all of them at once. :|
Seriously. It was one of those "is this a mirgraine or a stroke" deals too
ugh. Mine was just "let me die". Payment for being outside without sunglasses
Yeah I never do that either.
not even a minute walk... what could it hurt I thought...
A lot, clearly.
Clearly. :/
some of us are meant to be noturnal
Apparently. XD
