Well let me introduce you to Hell Night Pasta.

Magneto cooks - not just lives off the replicators. Occasionally he'll take what he's made to Ten Forward to eat and be social-ish. Unless someone wants to volunteer, I'm going with an NPC having commented on the spicy food he was eating, prompting him to make something hotter. Much hotter. The Pasta From Hell, brought to us from Man Vs Food, because the mun watches too much Travel Channel.

As they do, one thing lead to another and now he's making a mess of it and letting others challenge their daring and their taste buds.

And Hell Night Pasta comes to the Enterprise.

OOCly, I'll be putting up an OTA log by the 9am EST on the 25th at the latest (perhaps on the 24th if work doesn't kill me dead) for people who want to attempt to eat this literal hot mess. And others who want to watch.

What I'd like to know is who would like to be a part of this. Who wants to try to eat this. Who wants to stand there and stare at people for even trying. Who wants to goad others into take a bite without trying it themselves. Who wants to be goaded into trying it. Who wants to be the kind person with ice cream. Who wants to shake their head and laugh at people trying to prove something. Who wants to get a betting ring going over this, be it for money or some other form of currency going over the ~~victims~~ participants?

He and Kale should work on this together. He'd probably suggest favor exchanges or something like that since they don't have money.

He's been cooking in his quarters for a while. Back during the Carnival event he made an induction cooktop by getting raw materials from the replicators. He's since refined it so that it looks like a large grill on with a cooktop instead of grill grates. He can move it but it would probably take several people and a furniture dolly to move it with him or telekinesis.

Normally it's in his quarters but for this, I figure he'll pull the cooktop off and attach it to a base so it looks like a large griddle and do it in Ten Forward.

Testosterone poisoning is how most these things get started anyway.

He'd be willing to do that on occasion!

Their older brother, the crown prince, is a professional chef who works in Paris. So they're always happy if they can find someone who can make the stuff that Nat can make.

Are the ingredients he uses replicated?

Pretty sure that's he knows how to make this to begin with.

Yeah, they're replicated. It's part of why he's been using spices and such, still most of it is from scratch (he thinks you can taste the "eggs" as having something slightly off about them, they taste like powdered eggs to him, so he doesn't make fresh pasta but otherwise...)

(And he's probably wrong, just being stubborn.)

Haaaaa. Right. So. Uh. Peeta is going to be your best friend/careful but suddenly deep questioner, the moment he realizes Magneto can make food and food producers that don't come out of a replicator. ~~Oh, the trauma of not having an oven, when baking is your sanity keeper.~~

He's had that happen! (I've been trying to come up with a reasonable way to make an oven with similar tech that's more than "put a metal dutch oven on the cooktop and use that" - WHICH CAN BE DONE.) But yeah, he'd be ok with that, he stress cooks too.

Alec doesn't blame him. The twins are a bit o.O about the food, but Kale's talked to the replicators and got a satisfactory enough answer that they're okay with eating from it.

However they would prefer actually made from scratch stuff... even if it is all replicated.

Yep that's how he is. He will eat something from the replicator (namely coffee and fruit) and he hasn't gone so far as to make butter or anything (and likely wouldn't) but he prefers food that's been cooked.

Also this is a life skill dammit.

Gah, yes. She sure as heck needs that. Speaking of! How kosher does Mags keep things? (Annie's going to be so confused by this. She'll follow things with his stuff, as his stuff, but. So confused.)

He thinks she's fun as well, so it work out.

He only keeps Kosher during certain holidays (the High Holy Days and Passover) with the rest of the holidays he'll generally do it but not be as strict about about. Otherwise he doesn't, though he doesn't have a taste for pork and and burnt meat smell will turn him off his food. And yes, it's confusing. He's the first to admit that.

Seriously. Just. Magneto why are you waging chemical warfare on people? Why.

*thumbs up* I wasn't entirely sure if that was just for the holidays, or a low-key always with that being more strict. And, haaaaa, honestly, the seafood rules are just going to make her go '...w h y' so much when it comes up. What is wrong with shrimp, Erik, goes Annie the daughter of a long-line of shrimpers.

...His answer would probably just confuse her even more. Because the answer is "In part because we lived in a desert and you try keeping seafood fresh in the desert far from the coast and in part because God wanted us to know how much we failed, so we'd be grateful for His mercy." Because Erik has opinions on God.

Nat isn't wrong.

She's missed cooking so much, she's just going to be so appreciative of the chance to do things again.

Pffffffffft. So, so, so, so confused. The closest she gets to worshipping a deity is her attitude towards the sea. So, uh, that explanation would just make her think of the Capitol re: districts and rebellion. Ooops?

(But shrimp, Erik. And crab. And lobster. And other delicious, delicious sea things, and landlocked people are just weird.)

They never needed it! They grew up in a household that had about ten kids in it, not including them, and they were the youngest of the lot and then when they lived with their father it was in the castle where people made food for them. Trev has some skills at it because he had to cook at university but Kale went into the army so he got food there. It was army food, but he didn't have to cook it.

Lorna will watch. Emma will be sipping Faith from eating it.

Liz might eat it. She will regret doing so.

Jim could probably be goaded even though he knows that it is not in his best interests at all. Danny will push you out of his vicinity if you get that stuff near him because wow you just burned his nose off of his face what is wrong with all of you.

But he'll probably laugh at the reactions he hears from the various people participating. He could maybe use someone to tell him what's going on, as he likes it when people do that.

Jim's going to end up in sickbay.

And Mags will point out to Danny he isn't eating this. But that will teach some nameless person who turned food into a contest. Mags plays dirty.

But yes. People get Danny involved.

Lorna should probably wonder who challenged her dad to wage chemical warfare on people. But yes Emma, Faith shouldn't eat this. (He'll sneak her the ice cream though. Emma will have to watch him.)

He won't laugh at Liz's face. Promise.
