New things on the Horizon

Hello everyone!

The mods have started to clear apps through, as some of you may have already noticed. We have a few more to get through, but I wanted to say hello and welcome to all our new players. We'll have a welcome post set up by tonight, and we'll be sure we're available to answer any questions.

We also wanted to let everybody know that we'll be making minor changes to some of our OOC posts, most notably our app process for August will be tweaked just slightly. We've been listening to all your questions and suggestions, and we're using them to make the game a better place.

OOC information about our upcoming game plot should also be going up in the next few days. We're sorry it's a week later than we spitballed before, last week and the holiday weekend here in the US ended up being crazier for your mods than we expected, but we've been busily putting things together behind the scenes and we're just about ready to throw it over to you.

Watch this space! Updates will be trickling in over the next few days, and we can't wait to share them all with you.

I am Beth and I bring you a new character. This is Andrew McKee. He is an original character. Andrew is a nine year old boy. He happens to be an empath (just no where near as powerful as Troi). He also comes with his dog Bernie.

They will be making his first appearance soon. I just have some RL stuff going on right now.

Hi folks! My name is Kris. I've been playing Kirk (original flavor) for a long time. Well. 2009, really, when I realized Shatner needed more representation in the Trek RP world. Anyway, just heard about this game and thought it would be nice, after a hiatus.

Hi there! I'm Odie and I'm bringing in Angeal Hewley from Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core. He'll be coming in a little bit angry from his argument with Zack just before he reveals his wings. (Meaning, he's going to be pretty hard to handle.) Once he calms down, he'll be fine. He's a gentle giant, most of the time. Then again, first impressions are the hardest in some cases.

My contact info is here for your needs. (For now, dealing with a downed and drunk plurk might take a while.) He'll most likely take a job in the hydroponics lab and use the holodeck for some extensive training. (He's gotta keep in shape, you know.)

Anyway, he'll definitely be confused about Genesis but that's all part of the fun. (And all the awkward that goes with it.) I'm looking forward to shenanigans and all the awkward things. Yes, please break his brain.

I'm Amber and I have for you one (1) Romulan commander and former Tal Shiar agent, Irian t'Aumne. Irian is based on one of the characters I play in Star Trek Online, and everything that happens in that game's plot has happened in her world (as has everything in canon), but I've relied more or less entirely on Diane Duane's Rihannsu novels for worldbuilding. This means that a few things are different; since the first novel was written before TNG came out, the Remans didn't exist, and Remus was a totally different type of place. If you want more details, I've got details.

If you have not read the Rihannsu novels for some reason and you're at all a fan of the Romulans or TOS, you need to go do this thing. Right now. They're excellent. I'm finishing a reread right now and just falling in love with them all over again. (Disclaimer: I love Diane Duane and everything she touches is gold to me. But I'm not alone in my assessment of the quality of these books, either.)

Irian is from the year 2409, over twenty years after the destruction of the Romulan homeworlds, and she affiliates herself with a group of Romulans who want to create a society free of the secrecy and backstabbing that characterized their people for some time. Their leader is also a Unificationist, so there's that. The Tal Shiar, on the other hand, wants to recreate the old Empire, and there's quite a conflict going on between the two groups. Irian does some work with the Federation, although she'll get grumpy if you call her Starfleet. Needless to say, she's not inclined to be hostile to anyone on the Enterprise, and will probably be half-annoyed, half-amused if anyone assumes as much.

All of the lengthy details are in her app, which I couldn't stop writing, so just a tl;dr warning in advance. If you need to get ahold of me for any reason whatsoever, my contact info is here. Welcome Post | Meet & Greet!

Hello and welcome to Ten Forward!

We're at the end of a new app cycle, which means we have a lot of new players coming in. We're all looking forward to playing with you and getting to know you, and we the mods want to be available to answer any questions you have. We'll be checking in on all intro posts you guys make, but we also wanted a handy official-type welcome up so everyone can meet, mingle, and be sure their questions get answered.

If you aren't making your own intro post, leave a comment here telling us who you are and who you play, leave your preferred means of contact if you'd like to keep in touch with other players, and tell us of any plots and plans you're hoping to accomplish while here.

Our last Meet & Greet post covers some basic questions, like what's the deal with these "Food For Thought" posts, how we handle IC intros/opening posts here, what your character should expect when arriving, and a who's who of players and their muses. We'll go ahead and repeat some of the important basics right here:

• Intros/OPs: Your Opening Post can be where and when you prefer, as long as it isn't in a restricted area (ie: the bridge, engineering, crew operations). If you'd rather tag someone else's post to establish your entrance, that's totally allowed. The standard setup is to be winked into Ten Forward by Q, but if you need special arrangements leave a comment letting us know.
  
  
• Life On Board: Your characters' first few days on the ship will involve a lax quarantine to guest quarters, Ten Forward, and the lifts/hallways between the two only. The medical staff will need to see them to clear them of disease and log their bio reading for future medical attention. Afterwards, they'll be assigned more permanent quarters and a roommate (unless there's a reason they cannot room with someone else), and be able to wander the civilian areas of the ship more freely.
  
  
• Sickbay: A sickbay post may be arranged to play out the new character's checkups, but it is not required if you would prefer to handwave your character checking out and getting the all clear from the docs aboard. If your character has any special medical conditions, let us know. If you have any other requests, leave a comment.
  
  
• Rooms: This month, to cut down on confusion we will be assigning all new characters a room and a roommate by random draw. This means if you have special requirements or considerations, you should leave a request in a comment here with your character journal. Some examples would be: if your character has a spouse or SO they would prefer to be roomed with; your character is unable to share quarters because of their physiology/temperament; and the like. If you're bringing in a high-ranking officer, you may request VIP quarters. IC, the Enterprise crew would be sure any important officers would have the best rooms, but OOC we don't want you to miss out on building CR with another character, so all officers will automatically be treated the same as other characters unless you tell us otherwise.
  
  
• Plot/CR: July's plotting meme is located here, or you may leave a comment directly to this post if you're looking for any particular plots or CR for your character. Tag around other people's requests and make some new connections.
